My daughter fell and hit her nose on the wall the top bridge between here eyes is starting to swell. Does that mean her nose is boken??? No blood I don;t want to rush her to the doctors if not needed.

I'm not sure, but I would take her to the er just in case and the doctors there will be able to help you out. Hope she is ok.

I don't know if it's broken or not, but if it's swelling -- well, it could interfere with her breathing, don't you think?

When in doubt, call the doc's office and talk to a nurse, she will be able to help and that is what they are there for. to your poor DD!

no its not interfeing with breathing to high up breathing ok. plus she always has her mouth. my husband is coming home now.

and cartilage meet (that little bump you can feel on the 'bridge' of the nose) she could have damaged either one. Noses are rather hard for children to break I think unless they hit them right on that spot (or so I've been told from my kids' numerous visits to the e.r. and urgent care.)

At the very least, call the doctor's office & talk to the nurse & in the meantime, put ice on it!

yes, I agree ice it and get on the phone with peds, I think they'd want to see her.

I'd head for the doctor's or the ER now, I am extremely cautious with facial injuries, this is the only face she'll ever have! If you get to the ER and they suspect it's broken, request a plastic surgeon if at all possible ...

when my older daughter was 6 months old, she rolled off the bed and hit her nose on the floor. there was some blood, but no swelling. my mind was greatly relieved after I called the pediatrician and he reassured me that she'd be ok.

I am not a medical professional - just a mom with an accident prone son. He has broken his nose 3 times. The first 2 times we did not even take him to the doctor. The 3rd time he sustained lots of other injuries and ended up in the ER. There is nothing they can do for a broken nose, especially right after the injury - at least that is what the ER doc told us. He did have a few follow up visits with an ENT because he deviated his septum. The ENT had us wait a few days until the swelling went down to decide if he needed surgery to correct the appearance of his nose. When the swelling went down, the break was not obvious so he did not have the surgery.

When my DS broke his nose a couple years ago, he had lots of bleeding, followed by swelling and bruising. They couldn't do anything for his nose, we were told to just make sure he left it alone and that no one hit him on the nose, and fortunately the bones set right back together and he never needed plastic surgery.

This is my opinion: Head injury ( no matter where it is ) = visit to the doctors immediately. I don't play around with head injuries, I have seen way too many head injuries when I was a volunteer with the ambulance squad and I don't take chances.

So what happened? I hope your DD is OK? I think it's better to err onthe side of safety when it's a facial injury.

Can you let us know, please?

Yeah, could we have an update? I'm wondering how she is.
