Hi

We are doing Disney from the 8th October till the 23rd at SSR then we are looking to do Universal from the 23rd till the 29th(home day boo)

We have 2 adults & 3 kids,

We are looking at Staying as close to the Universal Parks as possible so we can Park it in the morning to afternoon then go shopping in the evening on I-drive and the outlets etc.My mum wont be doing the Universal parks just Disney as she doesnt do many rides and will go shopping instead or relax

We are looking at the moment at RPH and HRH with the RPH coming in slightly cheaper,
We have an Autistic child who will get the GAC "not sure how this will work for potter" we think the FOL passes will come in handy for this situation......

The room prices are $215 - $230 a night for RPH do you think this is worth it? would you try and find somwhere off site cheaper or stay here?

Also how far is places like walmart outlets and main I-drive area from here! My mum loves to go up and down we always used to stay on i-drive for the whole trip when i was younger but now I have children we stay at Disney! The boys however this yr want to do Universal and we have 6 days spare for shopping and the Universal parks!!!

Sorry for long post its just we was due to go out on the 24th september till the 16th october doing Universal 1st then Dh military leave got cancelled and weve had to change everything around :( which means i didnt want to spend the last wk in a rubbish hotel after spending the 1st 2 in a great one! I prefered it when we was doing it the other way around and ending with our great Disney stay!!! oh well at least we are still going there was a few wks when we thought we would have to cancel EVERYTHING!

Thanks for any help and advice you can give me x

buying 1 AP will get you the room at RPR for $169 (although you'll have an additional charge of $25 per night for the additional adult).

APs cost $250, so you will end up saving some money since you are staying for quite a long time.

You can check AP discounts by entering APH in the code box.

Make sure you put in the proper number of adults and children in the boxes.

I think you are better off staying off-site becuase you have more time to see the parks. Universal, Islands and Seaworld will only take 3 days and you will be there 5-6 days. If you don't finish a park in one day you have the time to go back to see the rest.

Instead of spending money on the resort, spend it on getting on multiday park-to-park tickets so you have flexibility to come and go in the parks. I recommend staying offsite.

if there are 6 of you in your party, you would have to book 2 rooms as 5 is the maximum per room at the UO hotels.

that would bring the hotel cost up higher for staying onsite.

you posted that there are 3 adults and 2 kids that will be in your party.

your siggie has 'surprising the 3 children" for the vacation.
9 yo and the twins.

maybe you had a typo and meant 2 adults and 3 kids and your mom booking her room separate.

in that case damo gave good info about the ap.

As the pp's have said, depending on your party size one room at RPR with the AP rate would not be that expensive for the advantage and relaxation that comes from being onsite. The RPR is gorgeous!

Paying for two rooms on site would be expensive and having the group split is also a minus.

As long as you'll have a car, I wouldn't worry about being extremely close to UN. There are lots of nice timeshares with 2-3 bedrooms, nice pools, restaurants, etc in the area. With the amount of time you have seeing everything you want in the two UN parks and having time for shopping/pool time shouldn't be a problem rather you're on site or not.

sorry I was doing a million and 1 things and i put down the adults and kids wrong lol! My mum is booking her own room and is happy to actually stay at a seperate hotel thats cheaper as we are paying for the whole thing she does not want us to pay 2 rooms at that price, plus LOVES to shop on i-drive :lmao:

If you'll be booking 2 rooms at any hotel (instead of one 3 bedroom timeshare which would be cheaper, but you mom may want her own space?) I would suggest the $169 on site posted above. Will grandma be ok with one of the boys "staying" with her some of the time?....

An offsite rate isn't going to be that much better and having everyone together would be worth it.

I vote for on-site. It is so convenient, especially as you won't have a car. It is easy to go back and forth for a rest or swim. With the unlimited express you may not need to use the assistance card.

We are In a 2 bed at SSR so its not her own space my mum wants she just wanted to be on i-drive since she wont be going into the Universal parks " she did the m loads when i was younger but cant go on much at Universal anymore " so she wants to shop on i-drive then meet for dinner etc plus I was told she can still come and stay around the pool with us during the day if we come back from the parks early and watch the boys swim.

Also we really wanted a hotel either right on i-drive or on site instead of a Villa/timeshare as we wont have a car.
