Wow, in all my flying.....and changing tickets I have never had that happen. Are you sure there was no SSSS on your boarding pass? It's small on the very bottom....on the portion the airline keeps, I believe. It is how the TSA identifies who to search.
I agree UA customer service sucks. I am not a frequent flier with them and even on international business and first class tickets I have to deal with the same customer service reps. it can be VERY frustrating!!!
I didn't look at the boarding pass, I didn't get it until I was at the airport. I don't think there was. I didn't get any extra screening at the airport, we went through with no problem. My bags were all marked TSA cleared on the way back though, I thought they did this when they went through your bags. I don't know if they now go through every bag or just a few, I thought TSA was going to start screening all bags. I had the sticker on every one of our bags, but still no extra screening. I actually feel sorry for some of the crew for United, they are way under staffed. On our way back we had a 4 hour delay because of weather (understandable), we got on the plane and suddenly the pilot got on and said that they had to take an alternate route and had to figure out if they had enough fuel to get there. This took about an hour, we didn't have enough fuel and had to go back to the gate to re-fuel. The pilot then gets on and says, sorry folks our flight crew has worked more than their allowed hours and we have to see if we can get another flight crew in. We had to leave the plane, thankfully a flight crew was coming in from Denver. We were supposed to get home at 8pm on Monday, but didn't get home until 3:30am Tuesday. It is kind of funny now, I sure am glad I am done traveling for this year.
