Hello all,

I am new here so this may be a repeat question. I am trying to find a decent hotel near universal. I really don't want to pay more than 100$ a night, but I don't want to stay in a dive either. We are staying in disney for 9 days first.

We are military also, if anyone knows somewhere that offers discount to the military.

thanks for your help!

Try Travelscape or Hoteldiscounts.com. I know they had the Clarion for $55. I booked the Embassy suites Jamaican court for $106(2 mi. from US). I'm sure there are many deals out there. :)

OH!
If you check the Radisson website, they usually have a govt rate ($83/nt, I think)
They are a very nice hotel at the entrance of Universal.

Also...
not so far from Universal (very close to Sea World) is the Rennaissance Orlando Resort....top notch resort that offers govt rates....I checked for this summer and I think it was for $79.....their typical rate is like $169.

Sheraton Studio City is right there at Universal and if you check through the 'hot rates' on the Sheraton website, you can usually get a rate of like $79/nt.

Also try the Clarion Universal. It begins at $49/night under the hotel discounts section on this page.

If you're going to Universal you might consider getting the entertainment rate at Hard Rock ($117 gardenview). a few bucks more than your limit, but FOTL will more than make up for the extra:)

I would agree with erinch, try the entertainment rate for HRH, and by the way since you are military I assume you will be staying at SoG at Disney, you do know it is strictly for the military and the rates and the best in WDW. Hope this helps.

FOTL is worth any amount of money, IMHO!

Try to get the entertainment rate or try hoteldiscounts.com for your dates. It is well worth it!

Priceline is great too. As long as there aren't too many of you travelling. They only guarantee a room for 2 adults. But it has been said that it would be very unlikely to get stuck with a hotel that didn't have 2 double beds. You can specify Universal area, but not the exact hotel. And once your bid is accepted its a done deal - no backing out. Your credit card is charged immediately. But the savings are significant.

I got the Wyndham on I-Drive for 18 nights in July for $30/night

I got the Four Points Kissimmee for $20 a night. It was a West Vine St., which was a little far away, but I got to avoid all the I-192 traffic by taking the Florida turnpike. :)

how do you get the entertainment rates. Thanks for all your replys.

You need the Entertainment card for the Entertainment rates. When you make your reservation, ask for Entertainment card rates. You need to show your card on check-in.

You can get more information on the Entertainment card at www.entertainment.com.

You also get the Entertainment rates with the Disney Club card (it has the symbol on the back of the card). Hope this helps!
