The original centerpiece of Tomorrowland, Star Jets opened on November 28, 1974 as a D-Ticket attraction. With its large, white rocket surrounded by the guest-controlled jets. The attraction closed in 1993. The center rocket was removed, painted green camouflage, and used in the Thunder in Paradise" series which was filmed at the Disney-MGM Studios. It can now be found in the "Bone Yard" on the Studios Backstage Tour. The Tomorrowland attraction was completely updated, and renamed the Astro Orbiter when it reopened on April 30, 1994 .
