Hi Gang

We are flying down to WDW in June. Our son who is 5 has flown before and he'll be in his own seet on the plane. No problem. Our daughter who will be 1.5 will be sitting in my lap or my wife's lap. I'm not sure how this will go. Does anyone have any advice travelling with an infant.

Also when we get off the plane and get transporation to WDW (and back to the airport), I would love to have a booster seat for my son and an infant seat for my daughter as we do at home. Is this possible? Do we have to bring our own seats for the kids? Do transportation companies offer booster and infant seats?

Please help with your advice,
Andy

I really don't consider a 1 1/2 yr old to be an infant, more like a very active toddler! You might really want to purchase an airplane seat for her - and bring a car seat for her to sit in, if it's going to be a long flight! Picture it this way - would you want to sit for five hours trying to keep a squirmy toddler safe?

If you are using Disney's new, free 'Magical Express' for transportation from the airport, you most likely will not be able to use child seats, as I think they plan on using their regular buses, which do not have seatbelts. Other companies might have smaller vans with restraint systems.

We have flown with DD in our lap. (I know some will yell at me for this) In fact we're doing it again in two days (last free plane ride). We bring color wonder markers and paper, plus lots of stickers, some special airplane only snacks (things she doesn't normally have), a magna doodle, and some new books.

we had dd (14 months) on our lap for our flights last year, that was a 9 hour flight, and it was really ok - not amazing but not as awful as I had imagined. We had 3 seats for the 4 of us, so she sat on my knee for takeoff and then between me and her sister most of the trip.

We checked her carseat and used it in our hire car when we got there - I have checked carseats 100s of times and the airlines always accept them without a problem

Bring your carseat with you when you check in at the gate. If there are any available seats on the flight you may use one for your babe. I have never flown where there was exception to this rule. We flew with both of our children before they were two without buying them tickets, and most of the time there was an extra seat - so baby could sit in their carseat (frankly, much safer than your lap) and you don't have to buy the extra ticket. If when you're boarding the plane they find there are no extra seats they will kindly take your carseat and check it for you (this happened to us once). Have a great great time!!!
