I need advice from the experts here! I finally went through all of our pictures from our December trip to Egypt and have almost 600 pictures I want to print (we took over 1,500). I have a coupon for Costco for 9 cents/print with no limit, so I'll be using that, but my problem is, I have no idea what kind of album will hold the hundreds of pages I'll be making. I usually use CM, K&Co, and Martha albums, but I don't think any of those will work. I've never used a 3-ring book, but that may be my best bet. I'd really prefer not to have more than one book (not to have 2 volumes), but maybe I can't avoid that?

Any recommendations and advice y'all can give me would be VERY much appreciated :)

I think your best bet is a 3 ring scrapbook. I don't know if costco does, but snap fish allows you to print collage prints (4 x 6 collage prints are only 9 cents a piece and you can get two or more pictures on one collage. They also have different sizes of collage like 5 x 7, 8 x 10). Saves money on printing because you can print two pictures for 9 cents on a 4 x 6 and the prints are smaller to fit on a scrapbook page.

I am working on an 8 x 8 vacation album and used a lot of smaller prints. (So while the pictures may seem large, remember it is a small layout)

The layout below is the size of of each photo if you print two on a 4 x 6 collage about 2 3/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches

Just an idea, huge space saver on layouts because you can fit more pictures on because they are so small and saves money on prints?? Just an idea! Good luck on whatever you decide : )

I love using wallet size - do one "big" picture then add the wallets around (leave one spot for writing)

Thanks for the input :goodvibes Thanks for posting your LOs Michelle, they look great!

I did make some pictures smaller, printing 2 per 4x6 print, but there are so many that I want to print big. It was a once in a lifetime trip and basically our biggest souvenir is the photos, so I want this album to be pretty spectacular.

Does anyone have experience with 3-ring albums? Am I wrong to assume you can use any 3-ring binder? What brand page protectors do you use with that and do they hold up? I may have to go with a 2-volume (or 3-volume) album set on this project, even though I'd prefer not to, it may be the best bet.

You could probably fit them all into the CM 12x15 album. I used that for my two week trip to Ireland. I used two volumes but I had more pictures than you.

If you fit 6 on a page (12 including both sides) that would equal 50 pages. They recommend not putting in more than 45 pages but I've gone a few over and the albums still hold up fine and don't notice a difference.

Where the problem lies is if you have a lot of memorabilia to include. If that is case, the album will be made that much heavier and you may want to split it into two albums to make them easier to handle and easier for people to look at them.

I only use 3 ring albums and I love them. The ones I usually use are about 2 inches thick and the number of pages I get in them varies depending on my embellishments. I would imagine you will need more than one album for all those pictures, but it will really depend on how many you put on each page. Good luck! DH wants to go to Egypt so bad and I am almost afraid of how many pictures we will some day come home with :scared1:.

Thank you for the idea. I've used the CM 12x15 before (my summer in Europe, my niece's book), but I don't really like the 12x15 format. I prefer smaller books over larger - I love doing 8x8 books - and I already have several paper stacks in 12x12 that will be perfect for these pictures.

What kind of page protectors do you use with a 3 ring album? I've never used one before but I'm thinking it would be a good choice.
Egypt was incredible! We only had 14 days off from work; if we'd had more time we would have done it on our own, but since we only had 2 weeks we did a tour. It included a 3-night Nile cruise and we took a lot of video. It was an amazing trip! I'd love to go back to Aswan and Luxor some day.

All I can say is ya better have that album finished in September. ;)

I use Memory Book page protectors made by C Line. Just because they are sold at the scrapbook/craft store that I frequent (Roberts Crafts, but I don't think they sell them in their online store). I've always used them and never price compared them to a brand like We-R, but I can usually get them on sale or with a coupon for $10 for a box of 50.

I hope you will post pics of your pages. My oldest daughter loves ancient Egyptian history, and we have watched every documentary ever made on the subject. We've also visited the King Tut exhibit when it was in Dallas a few years ago. I'm sure your trip was amazing!!

Thank you for all the ideas! I am loving the C Line products! There's a dealer just 20 minutes from me so I'll check there or order on-line. Their 4-page panoramic spread page protectors would be perfect for our camel riding pictures! I saw a 3-ring binder today that I loved but I don't know if a 3-inch binder will do it; may need a 5-inch.

As far as September, Lisa, well, I'll certainly try but don't hold your breath :goodvibes I just started a new part-time pharmacy technician job and classes start in a couple of weeks  When I do get it done, though, I will post some LOs.

Sheila - I hope your daughter gets to go one day. I've always watched those shows, too (still do). It was a trip of a lifetime!

Thanks again for the input!! I am so excited to get going on this album
