Thanks for your helpful comments yesterday.

I am delighted to say that I have managed to booked an Illuminations Cruise for DH's 50th on 4th Jan. The boat will be decorated and a cake will be waiting for us - he will be so surprised.

I definately would not have managed it without the tips from these Boards,
thanks.

Oh well done, great way to celebrate your DH's 50th birthday :cheer2:

Claire ;)

well done, I am joining up with some Disers in October, so I will be sure to let you know how it goes - great suprise for your husband - wherabouts in South Wales are you ?

I am so pleased I managed to book the cruise as I had heard they were very difficult to get but I sat primed with my phone and was ready to push the buttons instantly to get through to an operator. She said. "Do youwant to book a speciality cruise on 4th January?' I said 'Yes', she said 'You got it!'.

Now I can't wait to go (16th Dec) then it will be a long wait keeping the secret until 4th Jan. His main present will be a day at the Nick Faldo Golf Institutue - also a surprise! I would like to do this too but is is quite expensive and there would be no one to watch the kids, maybe next time.

I'm in Swansea Jules, where are you?

Hi Camac-what a great 50th birthday present.
We are out there the same time as you and my DD will be 8 on Jan 5th so we are currently planning that.
Maybe we will see you floating past at epcot!
Cheers
Dave

Shout and wave if you see us Dave - our boat will have the birthday decorations on it - we'll pass you over a piece of birthday cake!!

I'm sure your DD will have a great time spending her birthday with the Mouse, what a thrill. Be sure to tell Guest Relations and get her to wear a big birthday badge so she has special treatment from the Cast Members. It'll be a birthday to remember for her.

Jules, hope you are dry in Merthyr, it has poured down all day in Swansea, roll on the Sunshine State!

Excellent ~ I'm sure your DH will be chuffed to bits :goodvibes

We go on the 16th as well! Where are you flying from?

Hi Jen UK, We are flying from Gatwick on BA on 16th December and leave Orlando on 5th January.

We have a long drive up from South Wales (5hours + depending on traffic) so we are booked for the Sofitel the night of 15th. We have got a driver who will collect us on the 6th Jan and drive us straight home as neither of us could face the long drive after a night flight - once was enough, never again!

We are flying from Gatwick as well but with Virgin, thankfully we are only about 1 hour and 20 mins from Gatwick!

That distance is not too far to drive in the morning before you fly and equally you only have a short journey home on arrival back in the UK. Still the hotel the night before just adds to the holiday atmosphere, mind you I could do without the added expense of drive, hotel, airport food, extra shopping!!!!!
