HELP this poor NEWBIE please

Hello people.

Thanks to Sylvia for putting me on to this site. She says I should be asking for Wayne's help because he is brilliant.

So my wife and our 5 year old son are travelling to see some friends in New York from the 11th of November and returning to the UK on the 26th. We are musicians which means that we dont have any money really and we are trying to fit in a trip to Disneyworld for Charlie, our little lad. We could stay for 5 days anytime between those dates.

Our main criteria really is budget related. At the same time we don't want to stay in a horrid place.

All or any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi - and welcome to the Dis.

I think your main priority at the moment would be to find a hotel thats in your price range. Many of these provide transport to the parks so you wouldn't have to worry about a hire car.
Do you have any idea what your budget might be?
I would also advise that you stick to either the Disney parks or Universal - depending on your preference. Trying to fit all the parks in during 5 days will be almost impossible and expensive. Your best bet instead would be to consider whether you intend going to a park every day and buy tickets that will allow that - e.g a 5 day hopper.

Like Kenny said you need to look into what kind of budget you have and start there, we have stayed at the Best Western Lakeside which is about 15 minutes from WDW and they had a daily shuttle to the parks, it was really cheap and deals are available all the time. Obviously some times of year are cheaper than others too. The hotel is nice, clean, a good location, a great place to crash after a busy day in the parks.

Will you be planning a package or will you be booking everything yourselves?

We are a brilliant team here, its not just me

Will you be hiring a car?
If not and you mainly want to stick to Disney(5 days you won't have enough time to do much else) then posibly onsite might be the best option for you.
The cheapest onsite resorts are All stars (music or sports) or Pop Century for 5 nights they work out at £310 that would include free Disney transport from Orlando Int airport (and back) Disney also give 3% cashback thru Quidco if you use it, bringing price down to £300.70

If you are renting a car or want to use public transport there is a massive choice offsite, difficult without set dates so just searched 11th Nov for 5 nights.
A fave of ours(stayed here 3 times) is Best Western Lakeside on Hwy 192, nice resort for the money, that would be £118.13, Quidco give 5% cashback so £112.22

Another we haven't stayed at but looks OK Orlando Vista Lake Buena Vista, right outside Disney £140 less Quidco

Some people prefer Idrive (last place I would want to be) Quality Inn International International Drive £140 less 5%

Another we have stayed at 3 times, Country Inn & Suites Lakes Buena Vista Lake Buena Vista £170.66 less 5% , includes breakfast

I'd price staying at one of the disney value resorts. We really liked all star movies toy story section - i'm sure your little boy would.

They may be dearer than offsite but you wouldn't need a car, even the transport from the airport is included on the magical express.

If you go on the US wdw site it will give you the price and possibly any special deals. Free dining is running for some of your dates - a great deal.

UK disney tickets are aimed at longer trips. I think you'd be better off with the magic your way ticket allowing you to visit 1 park each day.
