Ok, So right now we are staying at the GF for 7 nights in November. We have started thinking about staying at the GF only 4 nights and then heading over to AOA and staying 5 more nights. I actually comes close to being the same amount of money since we are cutting some days off our GF stay.
Now here is my question... Is this going to be a headache and mess things up??
We are doing ME so how does all of our luggage get over to AOA?
What time do we have to check in etc...?

Also, We are staying at a discount rate since we are under a family and friends discount (room only) but we were able to add on the meal plan... wondering if that gets messed up in anyway? Although I would think for that they would just add the days on.

If you change resorts could I NOT get the meal plan for those added on days and only for the GF stay?

Any help of thoghts would be appreciated... thanks:goodvibes

If you're going to do this may I suggest starting at AoA and then moving UP to GF.

In any case Disney will move all your luggage for you from one resort to another. The only inconvenience would be you'll have to abide by the checkout and check in times. I guess just plan on being at the parks during the overlap times.

I agree with the pp that I would start with AoA and then move to the GF. As the pp said, Disney will move your luggage for you, but you may be without a room for awhile if your room at the 2nd resort isn't ready until later in the day. When the 2nd resort gets your luggage, bell services will hold it for you. Once you check in and get your room, you can call bell services and they will bring your luggage to you or you can go there yourself and get it.

I'm not familiar with the friends and family discount, but I assume it works the same as other discounts as there would have to be availability at AoA for you to add the nights at that resort. There wouldn't be any problem cancelling nights at the GF, but AoA must have availability under that discount. You could book AoA without the DDP as that would be a separate reservation from the GF. HTH :).

As far as I know the meal plan is tied to the resort reservation so you would need to purchase the plan separately for the AOA stay.

I know what you all mean about staying at AOA first and then GF... But we already have GF booked and all of our reservations booked etc that were because we were on the monorail. Some which can't be changed. Also our 7 year old daughter REALLY wants to stay at AOA so we are surprising her with that while we are there. We are going to tell her we are going over to take some pictures and then " surprise,,, we are staying here for 5 more nights!!"

Can't help offer too much clarity but my understanding is that different resort stays are considered separate reservations, therefore your dining plan would need to be separate at AOA. You would also need to purchase new mugs at AOA if you use those. I think your park tickets will be ok as long as you purchase the correct days on the ticket under your GF reservation.

This is how it was explained to us when we are staying one night at a value before moving on to WL for the rest of our stay.

Were you going to try to get the F&F deal at the AOA, too? I'm not sure how that works with the dining plan - do you have to purchase tickets? Or is it like the AP packages where you can just have room + dining.

IF you are getting the F&F deal, and IF you don't have to purchase tickets to get the dining plan, then it's not really a big deal to move resorts. But, if you have to purchase 2 sets of tickets, that's when doing a split stay may require more investment than you want to make.

We already have our tickets. With the friends and family deal . it usually does not have the meal plan connected to it but it does this time. It is through my cousin who is a cast member. In August it came open that we could get the meal plan if we wanted it.

Ok so sounds like to move over to AOA we would just let them know at the Grand Floridian that we were moving and they would move our bags.
So then we could just go to the park or whatever for the day and head on over there after check in time to check in and collect our bags... Am I correct?

You will need to have your CM help you with this. They will need to book you a separate reservation for AoA. If it is available at the F&F rate with ddp they can add it the same way they did your GF res.

It will all be separate. Your GF dining credits will expire on check out day and new ddp credits start on check in for the second res.

CMs only get a certain amount of F&F reservations per year. You will be taking up 2 from the CM by doing this. Id talk to them and make sure they are willing to allow you to use 2 of their reservations, and they will need to book thr initial AoA res. Tickets wont expire until 14 days after first use so those shouldnt ve a problem.

You are correct :).

A split stay is two, separate reservations, so, yes, you could get the dining plan on the GF reservation and no dining plan on the AoA reservation. Yes, they will transfer your luggage. Simply call Bell Services once you are packed at GF and they will pick up your luggage from your room and transfer it to AoA.

As PP already mentioned, you should speak to your CM relative to see if they are willing to make two reservations for you. If they aren't, perhaps do 7 nights under F&F at GF and 2 at rack rate or a general public discount at AoA?
