I need help! DS (3 mos) is teething with 4 teeth coming down, one is close to breaking through. He's cranky, crying and miserable. I feel so badly, you can tell he's really uncomfortable. I gave him tylenol, countles teething toys, washcloths, and even my (clean) hand. I can't get out of the house right this second to get teething gel and I believe the teething tablets that I once thought were a godsend are now recalled. Ugh. Please help! My heart is breaking! (and DD3 is getting jeaous of the attention I'm giving DS :headache:)

Do you know of any easy teething pain remedies that I may have around the house? Right now he's only happy while nursing.. and.. uh.. yeah. OUCH. :scared1:

I have no good news for you here, but DGS16months is still teething and his favorite things have been a blanket, a damp washcloth and our fingers. He absolutely hates the gel.

The washcloth didn't last long, he seems to like chewing on cloth blanket, but his hands seem to be winning. Poor kiddo, he still hasn't napped this afternoon. :(

I wish the Hylands tablets weren't recalled, they really worked for DD.

I let baby girl chomp on my finger.

She now has two teeth and it is now too painful for me to do that.

I also massaged her gums. The pressure often helps which is why babies like to gum things.

I am of absolutely no help, but I always think of that episode of "Roseanne" when Jackie's baby was teething and inconsolable, Dan gave it a frozen Eggo waffle, and that seems to help. I always wondered if that works..

Good luck!

We used the wet washcloth and put it in the freezer. Seemed to last longer. I also got a few of the mesh feeders and put ice cubes in them. Poor baby, I hate teething. :(

Ahh I forgot to freeze the washcloth. I'm going to give that a try. Heck, I'll even try the bagel or even the waffle! I'm sure he'd like that! He's going to love food, he gets SO excited when there's food around.

Wish me luck!!

My DS (4 months on Sunday) is teething right now, as well, but only 2 teeth and they're not cutting through yet. One thing I saw recommended was taking a carrot from the fridge, peeling it, and handing it over to the baby. I might try it if things get too bad.

Your poor little guy! :sad1:

We're having the same issues, except I don't think any teeth are on the verge of erupting (I and I hope they don't... he bites me!)

Do you have a Sophie Giraffe? She is expensive but the BEST teething toy. DS absolutely loves his. I think it is because there are so many options to chew on. His favorite way is to get 2 of her legs on either side of his mouth and chomp chomp chomp.

Otherwise, it sounds like you are doing everything you can. :( Poor little guy.

The best that worked for DS was distraction. We had the speak and say that does farm animal noises. The only thing that would calm DS down was listening to the Farmer in the Dell and Old MacDonald. It was a LONG few months. Good luck!

Rub a little on the gums, then take a few shots, yourself. After a few applications the baby might still be in distress, but you won't be. :lmao:

LMAO! Sign me up! I could use a drink at this point. DH has him at the Urgent Care (couldn't get him into Ped's) to make sure it's not an ear infection. Poor kiddo.

Edited: He's not only teething but he has an ear infection! Ack!!

Frozen bananas are great..... when they defrost they are mushy so there isn't a choking risk. I also would put an ice cube in one of those thin baby washclothes and clip it closed with a chip clip kind of thing. We had the thinner ice cubes so it was easy to bite on.

I'm surprised no one suggested Tylenol. When dd was really bad with teething it was the only thing to give her relief. She has one tooth coming now and we use a combo of advil an cold teethers and a hard teething ring she loves

We used a pain reliever, too, along with some of the other suggestions. It seems like teething is one of those things that is so incredibly hard to soothe. It's so hard to watch the little babes deal with it!
