Help! Taking kids at Christmas

OK...My DH and I have decided that we are finally able to afford our kids' dream vacation trip to Disney World. We are planning it for Christmas. I went to Disney World when I was 19. However, we are going for the 1st time as a family, and the girls, 14 & 9, want to stay in the Kingdom.

My question is...Which on-site hotel or resort will offer the most for our money? Do any offer shuttle service to Sea World, and Universal? Is it better for us to plan on renting a car, or can we basically get to all the main attractions with the Hotel Shuttles? Oh yea...1 more question...What is there to do at the Downtown DIsney area?

Sorry, they have waited for so long, I just want to fulfill their perfect vacation dream! LOL

Which hotel or resort you stay in will depend on your budget for the vacation. Check out www.allearsnet.com for lots of info and pics of all of the Disney resorts. We drive down from Ga. and don't get into our car again until it's time to leave to come home. Disney buses only go to Disney parks and Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island, you'd have to call a cab or rent a car to go to any of the other area attractions. As far as Downtown Disney goes, there are lots of shops, restaraunts, the marina where you can rent boats, Disney Quest (an indoor theme park...video games, virtual reality, stuff like that), Cirque Du Soleil, there's lots to do! Have a great time planning, I'm sure you guys will have a wonderful vacation! Oh, and WELCOME TO THE DIS!
