I need help guys..

We're taking DBF's soon-to-be-2-year-old neice (she's our God-daughter too) to DLR for the first time the second Saturday in September.

We have never taken anyone else to DLR that is not an adult, so we have no clue what to do with her. Obviously hang out in Fantasyland and Bug's Land in DCA, but that's about it..

She's not real familiar with Disney that much at home either. We want to take her to a character breakfast, but we don't know how she'll act or if she'll even recognize the characters.

We're going to rent a stroller at DLR for her and carry a backpack with all her stuff in it...

Do you guys have suggestions for us clueless ones? :confused3

Thank you! :)

She will love it!!

Yes, do Fantasyland and Bugs land. Definitely do the Pooh ride over by Splash Mountain. She will probably enjoy the parades too.

She might also enjoy the Princess Fantasy Faire.....;)

Do you have a Disney Visa?? "If not, get one" (Woody, Toy Story). That way your stroller rental is free!! I would do a character meal at Plaza Inn, they have the most familiar characters I think. Get her to start watching Disney movies, and get her to start watching Playhouse Disney each morning. She would probably really enjoy PLayhouse Disney Live On Stage if she watches the shows. Definately do Fantasyland and Toontown, and take her on Autopia and let her drive, my little ones love that. And let her shoot the lasers on Buzz. Take her on Nemo and Pirates, and if open, try to expose her to HM. Oh, and dont forget the Jungle Cruise and Tarzans treehouse. In DCA, do bugs land, do Jumpin Jellyfish, Monsters Inc., and TSMM. Get her some ice cream. Oh, and watch the Parade of Dreams with her.

HTH!!

What fun! I would suggest showing her a Disney or Pixar movie or two before the trip. We did that about a month before bringing our 2.5 year old. He had so much fun when he saw familiar faces in the DCA parade. "It's 'ightning Ma-Ceen!" he was shouting in excitement :)

Double check with her mom that she is not afraid of characters. My fearless, daredevil, willing to try anything 3 year old is still terrified of them. :confused3

It's fun watching the joy the little ones experience at Disneyland. Have a great trip!

Take her to Toon Town! She will LOVE it! Goofy's house has a soft play ground area for little kids. Also it will be fun for her to run though Mickey and Minnie's house. Mine had a blast there!

Redwood Creek Challenge is also a nice place for you to take her so she can run around a little!

When you go to Bug's Land bring an extra change of clothes + shoes for her so she can run through the fountains.

Thank you guys so much for all your answers!!!

It's funny because now that we have APs we make a couple PS's and just go with the flow, but now since we're taking someone and this is her first trip, we want her to have a BLAST so I've been planning planning planning!!

I think we are going to take her to Minnie's breakfast at Plaza Inn.. Since it does have the most recognizable characters..

I'm not too sure how she'll react to them, she is pretty fearless, her Mom said she'll be fine, but I guess we'll find out at breakfast...

I didn't even think to bring an extra change of clothes for her in case she gets wet at DCA. I think it's going to be fairly warm when we go, so I'm sure she'll like playing in the water...

HM is going to be closed for NBC layover when we go, so there goes that idea. BOO. Because I wanted to go on it once before the layout goes on it...

Yes! And we have to watch Parade of Dreams with her. We never really watch it since we've seen it so many times, but I'm sure she'll love it..

I'm excited we can take her to Playhouse Disney! I LOVE Handy Manny!! :lovestruc

Same with PFF! I think she'll enjoy the princesses and the crafts there...

I'm so excited for her!!!! :yay:

I need to make a list of things for us to do..

Thank you guys again..

do the shows! my son was only one at the time, and he suprisingly looooved them! like the ITS TOUGH TO BE A BUG show :) have fun!

If you want to introduce characters without a bunch of tv time, get a book fo disney stories. That's what we did for my son. I think it was about $20 at Borders and it has all the classics in it.

She is at such a wonderful age that she will be pretty much mesmerized by EVERYTHING, well, except roller coasters. We have taken my DD when she was 18 months and our grandson when he was 16 months. They both loved the park. It is so much fun watching their little faces light up with excitement!

If you can find a set of small Disney books take them to the park with you and have the characters sign them. This is what we did instead of an autograph book. It makes wonderful keepsakes. :thumbsup2

At Target or any store that has a party section you can pick up small bottles of bubbles. I think last time we got 24 little bottles for $4. They are great for waiting in line.

Have fun!

They have Princess Storybook Hour in one if the shops, its just to the left of the castle. Ask first thing in the morning what time it will be that day (usually around 9-10am) and buy a snack before saving your spot on the rug (you should get there 15-30 minutes early). Try to sit on the left side in the front b/c that is where the line will start afterwards for pictures and hugs! :)

My 3 yo DD LOVED going to that a couple years ago and it was a nice downtime to just sit and relax for awhile.

PS I dont think I would take her on the Haunted Mansion. I was nervous going on that as an 8 year old!!! None of my kids have been on it yet, I will probably wait until they are both over the age of 6.

They have now moved that to the Princess Fantasy Fair.
