Help! SW or Delta??

ok I need some help in deciding. I was very upset about SW prices, so I did some research. Out of MHT I can get RT w/ Delta for $890.50 family of 5- which is a great prices about $89.05 tax included each way to MCO!!. The only thing I do not like is the times of the flight are not great and there is 1 stop (with 3 children that scares me). So do I take a risk that SW will drop prices since they do non-stop? Or do I book with Delta (who I have never flown with)? Also is Delta famous for dropping or raising prices???

nottelling, I would hold out for SW prices to drop. I too was upset about the prices out of Providence, so much so, that I booked JETBLUE out of Boston, when I live just 10 minutes from the Providence airport.

If you don't mind the drive check out prices for your trip with JETBLUE out of Logan. I was able to get $158 rt non stops for 9/15-9/22.

Is the Delta flight 1 stop with a change of plane, or 1 stop but stay on the same plane? Flight with stops but no change in plane take a bit longer, but are otherwise almost as good as non-stops.

Since the flight # changes, I am assuming that we are chaning planes.....

Just because the flight # changes, doesn't mean you change planes. Personally, I would wait for SW. Delta is NOTORIOUS for changing flight times, cancelling flights, seat assignments, etc.

If you plan on traveling again in the next year and will be able to use the credits, I would go with Southwest. I'll never fly Delta again if I can help it. Not only because you can't change flights without a penalty, but also because there has NEVER been a time when I've booked a Delta flight that it hasn't changed significantly, sometimes by hours. When you book a specific flight in order to accomodate work and school schedules, you don't expect it to vary by several hours, enough to necessitate another unplanned day off --yet it happens consistently with Delta. In most cases, they don't even have the courtesy to notify you of the change, either.

I HATE Delta! My parents live outside of Atlanta (DELTA hub) so I have flown them many many times simply b/c of availability, but I just can't stand them anymore! A vast majority of their employees are incredibly incompetent (sp?) and just downright lazy and rude. They lost my luggage on my flight from Hawaii to Atlanta (direct flight) when I was 5 mos. pregnant. I called the number they gave me and I got someone in BOMBAY, INDIA!! I was like how are you going to help me, you're not even on the same continent?!?!?! He was like, oh it looks like your bags are in Chattanooga. I was like, I never even went through Chattanooga! Well, 5 days later my bags arrived, apparently, they sat in Atlanta the whole time, they were just too lazy and/or stupid to realize it. Don't ever fly Delta......

Ok so it looks like most think that Delta is not the best idea, even though I have a great rate with them. I think that I will try to be patient with SW and see what happends. It is hard planning trips when you have kids- you want the best deal for the best $$$.........

ITA with Jynohn and Princess_Michelle....................those have been OUR issues with Delta, too. Multiple flight changes without notification (some with lost "assigned seats"), plus lost luggage that took forever to arrive (out of a 4-day trip to San Diego, we finally got our luggage for the last two days, after a hassle dealing with "outsourced" personnel for 2 days). Yes, we got a (very) small compensation for essentials and a couple of vouchers, but we'd never use Delta again!

Even the trip using the vouchers was a problem, but at least the luggage was only lost for 1 day! (My DH says that even FREE, Delta isn't worth it! )
