HELP - Surprise Trip in need of Suggestions

Hey Everyone,

So my boyfriend just came home to tell me that he has gone and planned a surprise trip for me for my birthday. He called DVC and arranged for us to stay at Saratoga Springs Aug 21-24. He also added the dining plan on for our vacation because he thought it would be convient since we are only there a few days. My birthday is Aug 21 and we are looking for somewhere special to eat for dinner. We are a young couple (22 and 23) and we are NOT very fancy people but we still want something special since its my birthday. Does anyone have any suggestions on where we should try to book in? (It also doesn't help that its only 23 days away because reservations have already been made by everyone else ). Any help would be fantastic....remember it has to be on the dining plan!!!!!!

Raglan Road at DTD has amazing food, entertainment most evenings and is easy to book.

Turf Club at SSR is also reasonably good and easy to get into but can have lots of kids.

Of the 2TS restaurants Artists Point at WL and Flying Fish at the Boardwalk are good and easier to get into than most. We use TIW not DP. I find 2TS credits high relative to 1TS for Raglan Road.

Just a thought... did he booked the free dining? I know last time we were there during free dining, there were many people that had no idea it was available and they weren't happy when they had paid for it. (Now that was a few years ago) Anyway, I think there's a code that can be added to your package (hotel and tix) so that you get dining for free, I don't think its automatic. You may want to ask... it could save you a few hundred dollars.

Another vote for Raglan Road at DTD..we really enjoyed our meal there!
What park will you be at on the 21st..maybe that will help in selecting a resturant.

To answer the DDP question - no we didn't get it for free because we are booking our room through DVC which means we aren't doing a magical your way package in order to be eligible for the free dining plan.

As for where we are going to be on the 21st, we aren't too sure yet because we kinda want to go with the flow that day, but I believe we will be going to a park and will be getting the park hopper option so we could potentially go to any of the parks.

What about wolf gang pucks cafe? I've only eaten at the express portion of that eatery. Any comments?

Wolfgang pucks is good infact we are there the week you are and will eat there 2x. Would I consider it overly special, probably not. What about the steakhouse at the yacht club or the calafornia ?

if you will be at a park......then you have tons of choices - all of which are great. For a special evening, pick a restaurant in the World Showcase at EPCOT - Japan is great as are France and Italy. Mexico is romantic but I don't care for the food. without sounding too bias......it is true what you read - Le Cellier in Canada is by far one of the best meals I've ever had there.

Hubby and I stayed at SSR 2 years ago and we really enjoyed dinner at both Raglan Road and Captain Jacks - the steak and lobster was included in the meal plan back then - not sure if it is now.

It was nice to eat at a leisurely pace and then just walk home.

Sounds like a ton of fun!

We've decided on a few things. We are going to go to Italy for the birthday dinner and we will visit wolfgang pucks the day after and then we will visit raglan roads on our last day that!!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!! Thank you all so much for your input it was very helpful. I am very excited for this trip, the time away and for our "special dinners" while we are away!!!!!!
