I've been keeping an eye out as we are headed to WDW Aug 12-19 (Sun-Sun) and everything seems unavailable. What is the deal with the Sundays and also checked last year's history of DINGs and they weren't for any Sunday travel? I think I'm stuck, we can't change our dates my Hubby has grad school on Aug. 11th and can't miss class and my DD5 has Kindergarten orientation on the 20th..so our days are solid.

Sometimes an internet special will include Sunday travel. :thumbsup2 Good luck. :goodvibes

SW is doing a better job, from their perspective, of limiting the number of discounted seats on peak flights that will sell out at higher fares.

You can keep looking but you may have to decide what's more important, price or great flight times. Consider flying Saturday night and staying at hotel near MCO Saturday night.

Well.. the problem is the coming home.. there isn't anything really available there either and we have to come home on Sunday.. so it might come down to we cancel our nights at Disney and just wait until our April trip.

Are the flights 100% sold out or just the discounted fares? Are you willing to pay the full refundable fare? If so keep looking to book one seat at a time. People change their flights all the time. You could even book seperate flights and then look to move to the same flight later.

edited to say I don't know what airport you're flying into but SW has availability into both PHL and PIT. You may not get the deeply discounted fares that are available on flights that are off peak but there are discounted fares available.

No... we aren't going to pay the full fair.. I love disney as much as anyone.. I worked there even. But this was going to be a discount trip on nothing. So it could be nothing. We were to be in FL May 13-20th and got $69 for those Sunday dates but we had to cancel the trip 4 hour before take off because my oldest dd got very sick and we couldn't go. So we want to use the credit we have, but are not really looking to put more than about 100 more into than we have in credits, since what we had were Sunday flights already. Our airport options would be BWI, or PHL. We'll see, I'll cancel before I break the budget, I'm not a debt person.

I don't know how many is in your family but $100/4 would mean you're looking for a fare under $100. The first 3 N/S flights from MCO to BWI are showing a fare of $79. How much lower are you expecting?

Remember we have a credit already... so we are only adding 100 more for 5 because after the credit it isn't in the budget to go much higher. I'm ok.. with $79 if I can get decent flight times.. but for night flights I'm looking in the $50s or $60s one way. I do this trip.. 4 times a year and haven't done the $79 with flight times that bad ever. We'll see.. I was just wondering what was up with the Sundays.. my last trip, the May trip we were to take was $64 one way. With a 6:25am out of BWI and and return 11:40 something like that out of MCO.. and that was Sunday to Sunday booked two weeks before our trip. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed. :hourglass

You're planning a one week trip. I'd book one of the earlier flights, so you can lock in your trip, and then hope to change them later. You're not flexible so you're running the risk of having to cancel your trip. Do you want to lose the last day of your trip or do you want to lose your entire trip?

SW's fuel hedges are expiring. Jet fuel is expensive. The great fares we've been seeing the last few years are going be harder to get.

There is only one flight on the way home at that is 6:25 am.. that means getting ME at 3:25 with a 5 and 6 year old.. NO WAY!!! LOL:rotfl: I'm thinking this just might not be meant to be. Like I said it is a reschedule.

MCO-BWI 8/19 flight 2574 (leaves at 10:25) is available at $79. The 9:00p flight is available for just over $100.

Drop me a PM if you're ready to book NOW.

Okay I am freaking out. Are you telling me there will be no dings offered for Sundays??? I am traveling Sunday to Sunday and have been waiting for an August Ding. Am I out of luck or what????

SW is reducing the number of deeply discounted fares, including DING, available on peak flights. Flights that might otherwise sell out at higher fares. You may get lucky or SW might get enough vacationers who are willing to pay a premium to max out their vacation.

Like the OP you have to decide your alternative:
1) Pay more
2) Change your travel date
3) Cancel your vacation
4) Drive

So does that mean that SW will not offer any Ding fares on Sunday?? I could have sworn I seen them offered for July? I am very confused right now. Do I need to switch to Saturday, should I wait and see if there is a Ding or not. There should be one any day now.:confused3

It means we don't know. It means you have to decide what to do. Would you rather pay more or would you rather leave Saturday. I'd be concerned if I saw a DING that was available on Saturday but not available on Sunday. Once you see a DING for your travel time you should jump on it.

I think that's what I'll have to do. It will be a pain changing some ressies etc, but it will worth it for cheaper airfare. Thanks

I think Sundays are peak travel days so they don't need to discount them. Remember the whole purpose of Ding is to sell empty seats. If there are no empty seats, then there's no need to Ding that flight.
We have paid $49 each way for our last 4 trips w/SW but our upcoming Sept. trip is the 1st time we are returning on a Sun. and we are stuck with $79 for our return flight. If we could stay until Mon., we could get $49 both ways but it's our 4th trip this year and dh is running out of vacation time. :headache:
Our choice is either pay up or cancel. Even at $79 it's not a bad price at all.
Don't forget, if your credit is going to expire soon you can call customer service and extend your credit another 6 mos. by mailing you a voucher that can be used online. I've done this many times.
good luck!:thumbsup2

Ugghhhh I had to go to lunch as I'm at work.. I just checked and it isn't open for 5 people that is the flight I want. I don't have the option to PM you... grrrrrrr. How do you know so much about SW.. fly them a lot? I do agree... $79 is not bad at all.. not complaining one bit if the flight times are decent. I'd ideally like to get 5 for flight 1865 on the way down on the 12th and flight 2574 on the way back on the 19th.. Let me keep praying and wishing.. Dreams do come true with Disney right.. I'll be wishing upon many stars.

Okay so if thats the case maybe there is a chance for me then because I just checked my dates and there is still lots of seats available. I feel a little better, but until I get my Ding I probably wont be sleeping well.

PS OP, sorry to hijack your thread. I just never thought about Sunday travel being a big deal until I read your thread.

Hey no problem.... I don't mind anyone taking over my thread as long as we can all help each other. Here is praying we all do well and get what we need.
