HELP! Sony HandyCam Picture Package Problems!

I am hoping someone, who is more knowledgable than myself or my DH (basically we are clueless), can help us with a problem we are having with our Sony DVD Handycam. (DCR-DVD7)
We are trying to install the Picture Package software so that we can upload our videos to our computer (we have Windows XP). An error keeps coming up that we need to install Macromedia Flash player in order for the Picture Package to be installed. So we downloaded the Adobe (says it was formally Macromedia?) on our computer, but for some reason the Sony software is not recognizing it. We can't even access the 'help' option in the Picture Package because it won't even open..it just keeps yelling at me the we need to "install the macromedia flash player" to operate it. Can anyone help us please? Any thoughts/input would be greatly appreciated.

sort of! We called the customer service 1-800# that is in the manual and they directed us to a website to upload it from directly from there. The website is

but i can't remember which exact file it was
We managed to get the software uploaded but then we couldn't get the computer to recognize the actual camcorder when we connected it to the computer..we spent two hours on the phone with the guy (who was LESS than pleasant) and in the end he told us it was our computer that was the problem...which I KNOW it isn't because i can upload from my digital camera with no problems...so we have given up for now...Hopefully you will have better luck!
