We are planning a girls only trip for Food and Wine. One of the girls snores, I mean really really snores like a train. I found this out when we went on a over night trip gambling in Miss. I could handle it for 1 night. But not for 5 nights. I need tips for this. She know she snores and really feel bad about it. So we need your tips how to help us all get a good nights sleep.
I thought about bring an air purifier for some white noise?

Suggestions Please

I shared a room with a fellow bridesmaid on a hen weekend over here in the UK - bless her, she knew how bad her snoring was too but the only solution we had was I had to wear ear plugs and had to fall asleep first. If that happened I was ok...else I was awake for most of the night lol!!

EAR PLUGS, strongest ones you can find, #33. I always carry them with me. Heck, I even use them at home. DH is a big snorer sometimes.:sad2:

Breathe Right strips (I believe that is the commercial name) REALLY work. No kidding. One of my daughter's friends was travelling with us, and she snored like crazy. We had some with us, and the problem stopped. These are the strips that you put on the bridge of your nose and the nasal passages are held open. Only thing you need to be sure of is (1) the proper size - they come in small/medium and large. Most women appear to fit small/medium best. We usually travel with both sizes. (2) proper placement. They give very accurate instructions with the strips on how to place them. I'd bring some along, and the ear plugs too! Just in case. Good luck and have fun.

DBF is horrible. I make her bring a small fan to put beside her and that muffles the snoring. Sometimes, I have taken a Tylenol PM to make sure it does not wake me up.

The air purifier could work, and so could the fan another person suggested. We also have a sound conditioner that i bought for DD for Christmas - $19.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond. We all love it as it makes sounds of the ocean, jungle, and others. We also leave the a/c Fan running all night. I have been able to sleep through all kinds of noise at POP with all that going! Whatever you take, put on the night stand closest to the person trying to sleep. And maybe take the earplugs and Tylenol PM along just in case!

Yes, Yes, Yes....my Dh has a terrible snoring problem. Once we started using the Breathe Rights I sleep much better and so does he.

I also agree with ear plugs. I use the soft silicon ones when we go camping. The mold nicely to your ear and block out almost all sounds. I think these ones are meant for swimmers.

My DH and MIL both snore terribly - one night during our recent trip, the snoring was so unbearable, I slept on the balcony of our hotel room! The chair was uncomfortable, but it was far better than the snoring racket!

Thanks for the tip - we always have silicone ear plugs on hand for our DD but it never occured to use them to block out DH's snoring!

I feel your pain...my DH snores like crazy. When we went last year...I had forgotten my earplugs:scared1:...(can't imagine with all the obsessed planning I did...but nonetheless forgot them)...thank goodness the front desk at WL were able to give me some. Saved our vacation!! I was sooo cranky for not being able to sleep. This time I will be packing my earplugs and our white noise machine!!

I usually buy Macks ear plugs (I think they are like a silicone putty that you can shape in your ear and work very well). They come in a plastic case and you can find them in the drug store and always an eye mask. This year we will all be stuck in one room and i know i will need these things.

After travelling with my Stepdad and Mom in my teens, I know the meaning of snoring. We would have the front desk call in the middle of the night, because other rooms were complaining - including across the hall!

I always take earplugs - the soft silicones ones like others suggest (although the little soft foam plug style work very well too, and they are the ones that are meant for industial use - they will really block noise).

I travel with my iPod and iPod speakers, because I love having the music handy, then it occurred to me that block-out noises would be downloadable. I downloaded "brown noise" (there are a ton of different "noises" - test them all, see how they sound to you) and put it on a loop and play it all night long. It rocks. I can now sleep perfectly under about any circumstances.

Where can you get silcone ear plugs? I have a soft foam ones but I still can hear. I'm a very light sleeper. I love the Ipod suggestion I never really thought about using that. I can get my DD to loan me hers and fix it up for me. Tylenol PM is going to have to make the trip too. I'm going to talk to her about the breath right strips.

Thanks for all the help

I am, unfortunately, the "snorer", not the "snoree." I tried Breathe Right strips and they didn't do anything for me but pull some chunks of skin off my nose! They don't work for everyone - it totallly depends on the reason you snore. I think they help people whose noses are stuffed up - but that's not why I snore!

I second the suggestions of having a white noise machine and really good earplugs for the other person in the room. And having that person go to sleep first - what a great idea! Between that and earplugs, it's a big help.

Any pharmacy will have them. The ones I have are also used for swimmers. They are flesh coloured and remind me of either Silly Putty or Barbie's legs.

My weight has varied over the years between 140 and 160lbs. When my weight is over 150lbs I snore according to DW.
At the moment it is at the 140lbs mark so DW happy though from a shape point of view I could do with being a few lbs lighter. (small frame and only 5'4" in height btw)

DH is our snorer; hence why I'm on the computer this late...
he is not a nasal snorer. We buy the nose strips and the throat spray and when he uses the spray life at night is soooo great!!! We find the spray next to the nose strips in every store we have looked.

Good luck! we also sleep w/a fan for white noise...still can't sleep! usually have to take benadryl if we are out of spray like now!

Our first trip to WDW as a "family" included DM, DH, DSIL and me. We discovered that my poor DSIL was the only one who didn't get any sleep the first night because she was the only one who didn't snore and was a light sleeper as well. Unfortunately, she spent the first night sleeping in the bathtub to get away from the chorus of snoring. Our second night there we gave her ear plugs, the silicone ones work best, and some hot chocolate (it was cold out) and let her get to sleep first. We made this our nightly routine the entire trip and the first night was the only night she lost sleep.

Since then, we make sure we don't leave without those ear plugs because DH, DSIL and I visit every year.

Good Luck!

Breathe Right also has some disolvable strips that you place in your mouth. I have use these and my husband says they work. When I use one it reduces the snoring to an acceptable level. If I use 2 it pretty much knocks it out.
