My DH does his Dad's laundry. FIL is a very heavy smoker and his cloths smell very bad. Is there anything that will take the smell out? DH has even tried washing cloths twice. We use Tide, Downy and Bounce. FIL doesn't mind the smel but we do!! Any suggestions?

I have never had to do this but I might try either baking soda or vinegar. I used vinegar in the rinse water when I washed diapers (back in the dark ages.) And I often through baking powder in the wash water with towels to freshen them.

1 cup of vinegar will do the trick. It absorbs odors instead of trying to "mask" them.

Don't worry about the salad smell as it dries it disappears along with the odor.

Odoban works great for my sons hockey equ :thumbsup2 ipment--can find it at Sam's club

Thanks! I put the Odoban on my shopping list. I'll try it all and see what works best.

Febreeze for the laundry - just put some in with your detergent. It is expensive, but good.
