my sister left a bad situation and has moved in with us with two of her ds 5 and 8 now she wants two more to come and stay for a couple of weeks ds15 and dd 17 we have two of are own kids I want to help her but I need to be fair to my family first is this a selfish thought? the two older ones are trouble big time. also she does not have a job or any money and is not a very motivated person to go and get things started let alone get thing done. HELP!!!!!!!princess:

I wish I had words that would help but I will send hugs your way and I hope someone else can help.

That is such a tricky thing -- you want to help but you don't want to get taken advantage of. If you do allow her to bring her older children, make sure you set some ground rules and let her know this is a very temporary situation. Also, put her in touch with social services or someone who can help -- you shouldn't have to shoulder the whole burden yourself. You're not selfish in thinking of your family first -- no matter how good the intentions, there will be bickering and your family will look to you as the one who "allowed" everyone to move in. Good luck - this really is a lose-lose situation for you and I'm sorry you're stuck in the middle of it.

My sister and my niece just moved in with us too! Its OK so far but its always hard to make adjustments in the beginning!
