I'm new to this discussion board, but wanted some suggestions about my reservations at The ASMo Resort. My first trip to WDW will be Dec. 30-Jan 3. When I called CRO to make my reservation, I was told by a very helpful CM that if I made two reservations I could get my first two nights for the Holiday Season, but get my last two nights for the Value Season. Boy, was this a start to my wonderful vacation.
My disappointment came when the only Value Resort available was the ASMu. The CM stated not to be disappointed because people change their plans all the time and I should just keep calling back to switch my reservation to the ASMo. 3 days later I was able to change to the resort I wanted. Well, when I received my reservation letter in the mail it only had 1 room on there when I was supposed to have 2. So my new reservation that I was so happy about was wrong....too bad that CM didn't know what he was doing.
So now not only did I have to cancel my new wrong reservation I was going to have to start all over!!! Okay so my new reservation has been made and I'm happy to say that I will be staying at the ASMo, which was my first preference, but I will not get to have the discount because through all the confusion Disney changed their stay to a min. of 3 nights at a resort (according to this CM). So should I be happy that I have the resort I wanted in the first place or be upset because what one CM told me is now no longer valid. Also, why are there no discounts for stays Dec. 25-Dec. 31? If there are where can I find one.:D

If you feel that strongly about the sitation you should do what you feel is right for you. Reservations can be complicated and the more changes that are made the more chance there is of an error being made - that is not meant to be an excuse, just that mistakes happen - regardless of who caused the mistakes. You should do what you think you need to.

As for why discounts aren't offered during the holiday season - its such a busy time for WDW - they don't have any trouble filling resorts during that time and don't have a need to offer discounts to fill up the resorts.

There are no discounts then because the resorts sell out on there own, since it's peak vacation time.

I would be happy that you got the resort you wanted, that's a very busy time.

Thanks for your responses and please don't get me wrong. I'm very excited about my 1st WDW experience. I am also happy about staying at ASMo.

Dealing with CRO is frustrating and they seem to give out wrong information as often as correct information. Hence, my reason for using DU now.
But your option appears to be the same we had. We were booked fro ASMo for eight nights in January. However, the AP rate was not available. So we went to ASMu, for the AP rate.
So it's just a toss up on which is most important for you -- $ or ASMo.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!!! The ASMo is a really fun resort. If you want to request a location just fax them 3 days before arrival. Fax: (407) 939-7111

Here's a map-ASMovies map

The Toy Story buildings are especially fun and close to everything.

Oh make sure you get all your Priority Seatings(like reservations) for your meals done early so you get what you want.

Here's the link to the PS calculator you just plug in the dates and it tells you when to call.

Have fun planning!!!

Last December my fiancé gave me a surprise trip to All Star Movies and it was wonderful. We stayed in the Buzz Toy Story building, with a great view of Woody and the rest of "Andy's Room". He faxed in a room request a few days before we left, telling them he was surprising me with a trip and that he planned to propose and they gave gave us the exact buildig and view that he had asked for. (It was 12/18-21/01, though, so the resort was sort of empty since school was not out yet.) Anyway, we stayed 3 nights and though the first 2 nights were the value season, the last night of our trip began the Holiday rates. (Also, we had an even cheaper rate from a promotional code at the time, so each night was about $59 w/tax). Since our flight home left about 8am on the 21st, we didn't want to pay for passes for that day, but we were getting the Unlimited Hopper Passes so it was included. So what we did was ask to break up our reservations so that we would have one for 1 night and onefor 2 nights, so that we could get the passes with he 2 night reservation. The first time he called he had trouble so we left the reservations the way they were, but the next time my fiancé got an incredibly nice cast member who broke up our reservation like we wanted, and even though it meant our last night was on it's own reservation, technically meaning we would have to pay the Holiday rates, she simply gave us the promotional rate that we would have been paying if we kept al 3 nights under one reservation. Now I know this does not always work out like this, but I would say to keep trying and calling CRO, because you never know what the CM will do for you. For us it was worth calling a 2nd time and everything worked out great.

We have stayed at the All Stars 11 times (6 at the Music, 4 at the Sports, and 1 at the Movies). We did the Movies for New Year's Eve weekend to end 2001 and start 2002. We are annual passholders and Florida residents. We could get NO discount for that time. In fact, in order to book less than one week took a little manuvering. I would be happy with the Movies if you really want to stay there. I would add, however, that they are all great!

If I a understanding your right, you are saying that Disney only allow stays of 3 days or more ?? That does not sound right. I would call back again and see if they will allow you to split your stay, so you are able to get your second half in value season, instead of holiday, which is the highest rate all year.

There's nothing new here. This has been Disney's policy for many years. It only applies during extremely busy times such as Easter, July 4th and Christmas. It has to do with filling room occupancies. Believe it or not, it's much more difficult to fill single nights during a busy season. Not many folks in the overall scheme of things go to Disney during holiday periods to stay one night.

I would call back again and see if they will allow you to split your stay, so you are able to get your second half in value season, instead of holiday, which is the highest rate all year.

What CRO should be able to do for you is to make two separate reservations - one for Holiday and one for Value - and link them together as continuing reservations.

The original reservation was for the ASMu for two nights at Holiday and two nights at Value.
When I called back looking for ASMo (as suggested by the 1st CM) I was told that it was not a problem they had room at ASMo and could do the split. But that's where the mistake was made by only switching one room instead of the two rooms as requested.
That's when I started over and was able to get the ASMo, but was told this time that I couldn't get the split. I was just happy to get the movies and took it because I just want to go to WDW!!!!!
But now that I know about the ability to do the split I felt I should try to get it.....
Thanks everyone for the input

Two years ago we arrived at WDW on 12/31 and stayed one night at the All-Star Music and then moved to Wilderness Lodge for the remainder of our stay. I believe I made two different reservations.

mousesavers.com list many discounts and promotions that may be available to you for your stay after 12/31.

i just recently called CRO and did just what my3boys did. We have one reservation for Dec. 31 at an astronomical rate, and a separate reservation starting on Jan 1 for 4 nights at the AP rate. Even that one started out as a two night stay, and I had no problems with the "3 night" rule with any of the reservations. In fact, no one even mentioned it.

I decided to write a simple letter to WDW Guest Relations explaining what had happened. Guess what!!!!
Today I received a call from them stating I would be able to keep my reservations and get the Value Price for my last two nights. I wanted to thank everyone for their comments. I can already feel the magic beginning. We only have 46 days until our first WDW trip!!!!!:Pinkbounc

Though your problem is now solved, I thought I'd share this for anyone else who might need some help. We're going this year over NYE too and didn't want to pay the holiday rate for the last 3 nights either. Whenever we called to book a room for 12/31 they told us they were sold out, yet the website had rooms available for that time. So I called back, made a reservation for 12/30-1/5, which they could do, but couldn't do only the 31st. So once I had that confirmed, I immediately called back and modified the reservation for only the 31st. That way I have the 31st on its own reservation and the 1-4 under the AP rate, which saves us about $350/night compared to the hoilday rate if we made just one reservation.
