Saratoga Springs is beautiful. We stayed in the 1 bedroom and out friends stayed in the studio. They really enjoyed it. They had 2 adults and 2 children.

Have a wonderful trip.

We stayed in a studio at SS July '07. It was nice. Beautiful resort. We were in the Paddock section. The main bldg. & pool were about a 10 minute walk. We'd stay here again.

The size of the resort and the distance to things is a concern of ours. We are staying there at the end of January. It was our last choice. But we decided to take this trip last minute (which we never do). We usually call several months in advance but events led us to decide to go just a couple of weeks ago. We are staying in a 2-bedroom.

Anyway, we have big concerns with the size of the place and how long it takes to walk. We have little guys and the parks give us enough walking. Although every resort we have stayed in are tremendous, so I don't know why we are worried now. Our other major concern was with the cafe. We love a full service cafe with hot and cold food choices (WL has the best one IMO). How is the counter/cafe service SS?

I have three young kids too, 10,8 and 4. We had heard nightmare stories about how huge SSR was but, we did not think it was THAT big. Yes, it is large but, my DD walked around the resort for ten days with no problem and no stroller. We were in The Grandstand section.(Which I highly recommend, very short walk to main building and pool, first bus stop to be picked up and dropped off...huge plus with kids and the themed pool there is great!!).
We walked from our room all the way over to the Congress Park section and over to DTD one day. Definately not something we would have done often but, it was not bad. We did not think the walking in the resort was an issue at all.
The counter service (Artists Pallette) was good for my kids and I. DH was not a fan but, he is very picky. We ate breakfast in our room each day so I do not know how that is there but, we had lunch and dinner there and it was good. We did not have any meals at The Turf Club but I have heard good things. DTD is so close that you have many choices there too.
We had great bus service when we were there too. The buses came frequently both to and from the parks. We were thrilled with the buses actually.

We love SSR. I am glad it is our Home resort and look foward to many stays there in the future.

I hope you have a great stay!

Hi and welcome to the boards!! SSR is a big resort, try to request a building within walking distance to the main pool and community hall and restaurants. You can go on the DVC boards and there are many thread there w/pictures. try to check the one w/the NY's Eve pool party they had (lots of pic's). SSR is very nice, though not one of my favorite DVC resorts (I might get flack for that since there are many SSR lovers). As far as the poly call and find out if they have anything available. You have nothing to lose and if that's where you want to stay then check it out. I don't know which travel agent, but if you have your heart set on a particular hotel, you may be able to do better going through WDW, again check both out and see. I don't think you will go wrong if you do end up staying at SSR it is lovely and has a great pool, close to DDS just a boat ride away. Good Luck and enjoy your trip wherever you stay:goodvibes.

Thanks for all the great information...what was your view from the Grandstand section?

Our building overlooked the golf course, themed pool and parking lot. Our balcony overlooked the parking lot but, it was not the worst thing to look at. ;) To tell you the truth, views from my room are not really a big deal to me but, if you would like a better view I would think you could mention golf course ,etc. I am sure someone else will have more thoughts on requesting a view.

We literally walked off the elevator and the entrance to the pool was right there. Our door to our room faced the pool.

We were thrilled with the location for its short walk to the main pool and building and the fact that it was the first bus stop so my kids always had a seat to the parks. Most days the bus was standing only by the time it reached The Springs and the resort was pretty quiet.

Have a great trip!

If you would like a good view of Downtown Disney, request Congress Park. We have stayed there 2x, both with good views across the bay to DTD & PI. It is also not a very bad walk to the pool. Just past the preview center...

I actually just called a requested anything BUT a parking lot view. We would be happy with DT or the golf course. My DH made a good point... we are going at the end of January and it has been chilly there, so we likely won't even be making into the pool:sad1: . My son is going to be soooo sad. Maybe we will get in once, so the walk won't be that big of an issue.

Thanks again. I do appreciate the help.

I try to schedule a visit to the spa every trip i take. Its fantastic. I enjoy a relaxing swedish massage but they have quite a few things to choice from, you can download thier menu if you go to www.disneyworld.com, recreation, spa.

In the women's lockerroom they have a steamroom, sauna and whirlpool and of course bathrooms, changing rooms and showers (i assume the men's has the same) they supply you with a locker, bathrobes, towels, slippers; they also have oranges/water/teas in the locker room as well as upstairs in the waiting lounge area that you can help yourself to.

The women's lockerroom has for your use; shampoo, bath gel, conditioner, razors, combs, hair gel, q-tips, hair dryers, hair spray, deodorant and One-use toothbrush with/paste. They even have one-use bathingsuits (not pretty-DONT forget your bathingsuit). There is even a machine that will practicely spin dry your suit when you are done using it.

I always spend a few hours here enjoying the peace and quite - great place to unwind. Going back in April and this is on our list of things to do!

Congradulations on your upcoming weddingpixiedust:

debbie

ps; my son says they have a good gym also
