I have 4 credits from old system in my RR account. It will cost me 14,400 points from the new system to get a free flight. If I don't convert points to credits it will cost me 17,280 points to get a free flight, as our airfare is so high here. My question is can I look up and see if there are seats available under the old credit system before converting my points to credits, as I am not flexible with my dates and have to travel to and from on certain dates. Don't want to convert my points to credits and then find out there are no reward seats available on my flight. Also, is it true that you cannot convert credits to points, only points to credits? Thanks so much for any help.

Go to flyertalk. There is a thread where posters ask about award inventory. You'll post and a helpful poster will look it up for you. In the past Southwest released additional award seats a week or so before the flight. Some people would book less then optimum flight (time or even a day earlier) and would switch closer to their trip.

One more question about this. Can I book flights for myself and my husband with my points, as I am the one on the credit card and if he signed up for R.R with Southwest do I have to book them separately so he would get just the regular RR points in his account or can I book both from my RR account and get points for both of our flights in my account. Hope that doesn't sound confusing. thank you
