HELP! Room Block Question!

What happens when someone tries to book rooms that are not in your room block? For example, what happens if someone tries to book rooms at the Contemporary when all the rooms that you blocked off at the Contemporary are already filled?

I beleive that if there are discount rooms available (there are a certain number of rooms allowed to be discounted at each resort I believe) they'll give your guests the discount. If not, they'll pay full price if there are any rooms. Most often the contemporary seems to be the place that runs out of rooms - cheapest place on the monorail and all...

I think what disprincessatheart said is correct. Just want to add: if you're in danger of not meeting your room-night minimum, definitely get their confirmation number(s) and give them to your WP. They will count towards your minimum, even if they're not part of your room block. (Disney weddings might not be aware of reservations, if they're made through the normal Disney reservations system instead of through Group Reservations.)

So if they just try to book through our website like normal, then it should go through if there are discounted rooms available?

Also, what if guests stay longer than your room block? Do those rooms count too? One of our guests is staying a day before our room block starts.

Yes and yes. We have a bunch of guests coming before the block starts or staying after it ends. All those room-nights count. And we exceeded the number of rooms in our block pretty quickly. I've added some rooms, but before I did that, reservations at the discounted rate were going through without any problem. (Wilderness Lodge.) Another thing to note: if guests want particular room types that aren't in your block (like suites), you can ask your wedding planner to add them to your block. As long as there are rooms available at the discounted rate, your guests will be able to get them with the wedding discount (even though they weren't originally part of your block.) We added "courtyard view" rooms to our block so that our guests would be able to get the discount on them, too. I feel like I'm rambling a bit here. Hope this all makes sense!

Ok so say you have cont. in the room block for 15 nights and all 15 nights have been booked but there are rooms left at reack rate at the cont. they will still let your guests book at the discount rate which is very nice! they let a ton of our guests do this at the BW and they said as long as there are available rooms it is not a problem.

Now say you cave cont. and POR as your block and some guests want to book at the GF. This is an issue. They said no to our guests. I know in the past they have let people get away with it but i think they are getting stickter about that!

My whole family is planning to stay at AKL the week of our wedding. I think we're up to 95 room nights (13/14 rooms for a whole week) just from my family alone at AKL. Do they give you a maximum amount of rooms that you can book at one resort? I think we're all going to book through AAA so we can get a discount and DDP, so not getting the discount for us won't be a problem, but if other wedding guests want to stay at that resort will they be able to get a discount through DFTW?

No, there isn't a maximum, as far as I know. And if you know you'll have so many rooms, you can request a much larger room block. You can book 20% more room-nights than you guarantee. So in your case, you could be very conservative and reserve 120 room nights, knowing you'll certainly book at least 100 rooms. (Those 120 rooms can be spread among multiple resorts, too.)

Oh right yes, they can book anywhere they want of course but not through the wedding reservations department...through CRO and then the res # would have to be manually added to the block by your planner.
