I know someone here will know the answer...

It has been raining BAD all day long and still is raining. While watching TV, I noticed that a spot in the roof was leaking. Went up to the attic to see what was going on, and apparently some water is slowly dripping down one of our vents and into the A/C drip pan, and leaking from there.

Who do we call to fix this? I say an A/C repair since it appears the big leak is in the drip pan. DH isn't sure since it's leaking around the vent.

I don't know who to call but I can say with certainty that I see it continuing to leak until you fix it or until it stops raining. I hope my powers have assisted you this evening.

Tammi, call a roofer. When it rained really hard in AZ (monsoons), water would drip into the hallway where the AZ filter was in the ceiling. It never went into the ceiling so we never bothered to get the seal around the AZ fixed. Since yours is dripping onto a ceiling, it is best to get the flashing repaired. And then the ceiling.

And Miss Cleo, your advise is of course right on.

Tammi, isn't your home still under warranty at all? It was bought new, wasn't it??

Miss Cleo, your advice is dangerous! I might sue. I laughed so hard I blew diet Pepsi out my nose...................

tammi, if the house is less than a year old, definately contact the contractor,, by law we have to warrantee for a year, other wise, over a year , or a writen no warrenty clause, call a local roofer to fix flashing and then a painterr to repair ceiling, ( assuming its a sheet rock cieling?) if its accoustic tile, it can be painted or replaced. i would start with either the contractor or realtor i bought from, that way you may be able to get uit taken caer of at a smaller expense. be prepared for at least 50 bucks to reflash it, maybe more if its a gas ( hot ) vent . god luck.

Thanks everyone.

It is a new home, year and a half old. We're going to check on the warranty for that part tonight (though I don't think we'll catch anyone / DH will actually *call* until tomorrow).

Froggy -- you mentioned what we think it is, and that's the flashing. We found the pipe the water is coming in on, and DH wrapped a towel around it since it's a cool pipe and the pipe goes flat to the floor so there was no other way to stop the leak until this rain lets up.

Thanks for the recommendations / advice everyone.

And Cleo -- thanks for your wisdom.

I did get my exercise tonight, though -- just got back from running over to help my mom find a similar leak in *her* roof. We were able to find hers, though it took a while and made me happy I'd had my gymnastics training (even if it was in elementary - high school) and that I'd been doing the Tai Chi and improving my balance, since I was the only one agile enough to get back to the far back corner and find the leak.
