Hello! I am waiting for our resale purchase to get into Disney's system, it has been taking forever! I think we must have passed ROFR way back at the end of January!

Anyhow, I've got some airline vouchers that expire tomorrow and I want to book a trip to BCV for November 18-24! If I book my airfare and get to use my $600 in vouchers (4 people), what are the odds that BCV will be available when I'm finally "official"? Is it possible for anyone to check availability for a 2 bedroom for that timeframe, or is that not appropriate?

This is SO frustrating!

Book it, even though you may not end up at your first choice (there really are no BAD choices)

I just settled last Friday but was already warned that Disney is quite far behind in processing and it could be quite a while before I end up in the system.

For anyone considering resale, I would factor this timeframe into my decision until these delays are worked out.

Disney received our information on March 8 and we were just in the system on March 21. After I called them they told me that the person that enters the majority of the information was out with a family emergency so it is taking longer. If you are a current member you will first see a shell contract in the DVC website under your existing log in and then the points should be filled in the next day. At least this was my experience.

Currently all nights are availabile except the 22 and 23. They made it seem that other dates were available. Once you are in the system you can book the available nights and go on the wait list for the missing nights. Good luck.

Plutofan, I envy you. We closed March 4th and still not in the system today. I am trying to be patient...but it's not one of my strong suits.

Denise, When did your resale actually close? When we purchased the closing company didn't even start work until after receiving notice of the passage of ROFR, then it was another 4 weeks before closing. For that closing company closing just meant the new deed had been sent for recording and the seller received their money. Then we had to wait for the conformed recorded deed to be returned to the closing company via mail, so it was another three weeks or so before the closing company even forwarded the new owner info to DVC. Then we waited another couple of weeks for DVC to process the new ownership info. So it was something like a 2 1/3 or 3 month process AFTER we got the ROFR notification. After two such resales we purchased the additional small contract add-ons directly from DVC. It was so worth it to get the points almost immediately -- just a couple of days -- and pay via credit card. And pay no closing fees and the maintenance fees for the current year was prorated. And when buying from DVC they will let you bank current year's points into next year even if well after the regular banking deadline. (For instances in September 2005 we added on with another small contract for October use year and we were able to pay just one months of the 2005 maintenance fees to get the entire 2005 points allotment and also bank all of those points into the 2006 use year.) So keep this in mind when you get the add-on bug!

The closing company told me that they sent it over to Disney on 3/16. Sounds like it will be a while longer before we are "official." I am so depressed! We really need to stay at BCV, and given that it could be weeks before I can book, and two of our nights are already sold out, I guess we will skip the trip this year and go next year. SIGH!

I'll check out other places to fly this year before my $600 worth of vouchers expire...actually, $128 expires tomorrow and the rest on April 2.

Thanks for all of your help!

You do not say which company you bought thru, we bought thru the Timeshare Store. My first call to TTS was on Feb 7th, received an email monday that closing was complete, one day short of 6 weeks from my first call, that is fast in my book. Called MS today to see if maybe we were in the system yet, no, but I did have them check availability for our dates in Jan at OKW, MS said there is plenty of availability :thumbsup2 Not sure why you have to stay at BCV, surely another resort would do if you really want to go :confused3 Good luck with whatever you do. :wave2:

I went through GMAC for the resale.

BCV would be ideal since we were there last November and my kids are familiar with the place. Both kids are high functioning autistic, and one has severe anxiety disorder. I'm sure that she would be extremely freaked out to not stay at the same place this year. We could probably get into Saratoga Springs but we really love SAB and the convenience of walking to EPCOT whenever we want.

We weren't planning on going this year with our points...I just got inspired because of our expiring vouchers and fares to Maui are $1400...so $560 to MCO was looking good. And Disney has a way of making you want to go more than you planned, and buy more points than you initially thought, etc.

I'll wait. We can go next year.

Stay in close contact with your selling agent. That is their job, to walk you through the ENTIRE process. When things get delayed, a phone call to the right contact at Disney will usually help to remedy the situation.

Happy "magical" vacationing,
Tom

I bought the tickets tonight! Just got back from the airport. We'll live dangerously and stay wherever there is room. It's all magicial, right? I decided that I couldn't wait until 2007, and I didn't want to see $600 worth of airline money go to waste.

Anyhow, maybe we'll be in the system sooner now that we have our tickets! Wishful thinking.. :teeth:

You guys are making me nervous. We are buying resale through GMAC and I have not heard anything from them since I sent my papers in back in Feb. I am planning on going to SSR in Nov. and will need 3 studios. I hope I don't have trouble getting ressies.

I am worried also. I signed papers through GMAC about 2 weeks ago and was hoping to get my points and stay at HHI in June! Do you guys know if you can get a reservation just a month out of when you want to go??

HH usually fills up very far in advance for all the summer months. Last time I called for a renter it was booked up through August. It will not hurt to try but I would have a back up plan.

Thanks for the information Pluto! I have only been looking at this board for a couple of weeks, but have found everyone to be great and full of helpful information! Thanks everyone!

The waitlist can work as many folks on these boards have stated. I was waitlisted for 2 nights (out of a 7 night vacation) at BCV 2BR for the second week of December -- popular amongst DVC members -- last year when I booked around 7 months out. I waitlisted the two dates separately; one cleared about 6 months in advance of the trip and the other cleared about a month and a half later. It could get a bit nerve-wrecking but folks do change their plans so spots do open up.

On the other hand, when we first got into the system (around late March last year) I tried to book the Mother's Day weekend at either BCV or BWV. I had back up reservations at OKW. I was waitlisted until the waitlist cleared at the 7 days in advance period and nothing came through. During the week up to the trip I called every day, several times a day, to check for openings but nothing. We ended up at OKW (which is a place we really like anyway) so it was still a lovely trip.

Just an update to let you know that we are officially "in" the system  . I called on Monday and we were in, but none of our points showed up (MS said it was a two-step process, so to call back today to book our vacation). So I called back today and our points *still* weren't in yet, but I was put on hold for awhile and THEN our point were in. So I booked 4 nights at BCV and am waitlisting the other 2 nights separately!

I can see how I am going to need to add on points pretty soon... :rotfl:
