Help required...New to DVC

I am renting points off a dvc member....does this entitle me to the 10 discount at some resturaunts and other perks like pool hopping......help a brother out

No, those discounts require a blue DVC member card.

DVC perks are only for DVC members and guests staying with them in their villa. Unfortunately, others using DVC member points are not entitled to the discounts and perks.

some renters have gotten some of the discounts. Ask!

the restuarants are now surpose to ask for the blue membership card - but most don't.

I think the bottom line is this - your room key will say "DVC Member" on it and sometimes this is sufficient to get the discounts and sometimes it is not and the blue membership card is required (even for the same discount). Technically, you are not a DVC member and discounts are for DVC members. So, you can ask for the discounts, but don't be surprised if you do not get them and you would have no right to be upset if refused.

I have rented points 4 times and have never been asked for a blue card. I have always rec'd the member discounts using my room key.

Has there been a change? The members I rented from mentioned the discounts as a "perk" that was included when renting points from a DVC member.

The last time I rented was 2 years ago.

There has not been a change. Renters have never been entitled to Member Perks. That has always been clearly stated by DVC.

If in the past if someone renting you points told you that you were entitled to member perks, then they were either terribly misinformed or outright lied.

IMO it's because of some of these abuses that it is now necessary to show the blue Membership Card in order to receive the perks.

Note, it's not just renters. Even relatives or friends of a Member are not entitled to Member perks unless the Member himself/herself is also staying in the DVC resort with them. If a member lets someone else use their points, either as friends, relatives, or renters, they are not entitled to any of the Member perks.
