Hi everyone,

In a few weeks we are off to Orlando- we booked Virgin flights through Thomson ages ago.

My 18 year old cousin has since moved in with us. She is a great addition to the family and very helpful with the kids!!!:)

We would like her to join us on our trip but cannot find seats on our flights. I have tried VA, Thomson, Travelocity, Expedia.

Anyone know where else i could look? It will probably turn out to be too expensive even if we find a seat (school hols) but i wonder if last minute cancellations happen often and if such seats get sold of cheaply at last minute. We have a villa booked so accommodation is no problem.

The flights are LGW-MCO 29 March Flight 27
MCO-LGW 11 April Flight 28

Any suggestions or advice much appreciated.
Mandy :)

Looks like Virgin is completely booked. Cancellations may be unlikely due to the planning involved in international travel. The return date is booked as well.

Looks like US Airways has a flight that leaves about the same time from London (11:15) and gets in to Orlando about 45 minutes after your virgin flight for $554 GBP. There is a connecting flight in Charlotte, NC, which is a smaller airport and should be a very easy changeover.

Since she is 18, is it possible to have her take a separate flight on a similar schedule? You would be there to get her to her departure gate and will be there to meet her when her flight would arrive.

Are VA operating more than one flight on those days - they usually do - you might be able to get her in on the other flights - usually an hour or so after yours.

You would then be in MCO to meet her and all she would have to do is wait at LGW for a little while after you have left to board her flight.

Other then that all I can think of is checking sites such as lastminute or travelplanners.

Thomas Cook Signature uses Virgin planes. I don't know if they have any flights only but may be worth a look.

Even the continental code share is only showing seats only for the VS15 but the price is stupid. (£2100)

You might want to consider the BA flights, depart at 11.40 from LGW and 17.20 from MCO. £745 just now.

Virgin website will give you a single journey out on the VS27 for £591 but shows nothing back for the 11th April
VA £754 for the 27th to the 12th, VS27/VS16

This website have one for £659 with Virgin - flying out on the same day as you, but unfortunately coming back the day after. If you select Orlando flydrive and then unselect the car that comes with it - this may not be any help but I tried.

Thanks so much everyone for your time and effort. We have some good suggestions and a few options to look into. In the morning I shall make a few calls and hopefully get something booked.

Thanks again for all the help.

Mandy :)

I would think that you are being a little optomistic. I would expect her to beat the main party by an hour or so. After all the Virgin flight will take of 2 hours late and have a big delay at immigration. Can the cousin wait around in orlando ok? If so, then the US airways route looks the way to go.
