I am making a 50th b'day album 8 1/2x11(CM) for a dear friend. I have sent emails to her family & friends.

Now I am wondering in what order I should put the items. I don't want to offend anyone BUT I thought I might put it in the order that I received it. I haven't heard from all of her sisters (3 of them), her dh is on tdy for 20+ more days, and her kids don't know about it yet.

I am considering using the jewel snap pack for the entire album.

What would you do?

Judy

I did a 60th birthday party small album for a friend. I started with photos of him, then him & his wife, then him & his children, then friends, etc.

I did a book of stories about a friend's sister after she passed away. I did family stories first, then stories from friends.

Have fun doing the birthday album!

and with both of them, I started with spouse, then kids, then grandkids, then siblings, then other family in no particular order (not that that leaves a whole lot of other family :) ), then friends in no particular order as well.

But, as you receive them would certainly make it easier on you. No juggling pages and remembering to leave space for what's-his-name who is slow!

It reminds me of the memory type bok I put together. I asked several siblings & nieces & nephews to write up something for my. Those who didn't bother (&I provided the sb paper & pens) were actually sorry after they saw the finished product. So, Judy, don't be disappointed if not everyone responds to your request.

I am guessing that I won't recieve anything from 10-20% of the people.

I agree that they will be sorry that they weren't part of this neat gift. The sad part will be that it only costs them "time", they don't have to buy her a gift ~ she won't need or even want; don't have to wrap it and it costs very little to them.

I am hoping to get 20 sides of the album done. The tough part is her dh is on tdy and I don't have a way to contact him. Her ds who's a teen is being a pistol. I know her girls will want to be part of it.

thanks for all of your ideas.

Maybe you could leave few pages empty for her husband to do when he returns. Another idea ... do you have photos of your friend? Maybe her children could help you "find" some photos. If you find like a wedding photo you could put it on a page for the husband to use later. Just a thought ...

Her Mom is in on it with me.

I am sure she has a wedding photo that I can scan.

The 1st page of the album will be her 1st baby photo.

I like the idea for her dh to have a place to add something after he gets home. I am trying to get a hold of her dd's and see if they an email addy for him.

thanks for ALL your great ideas

Judy

What an awesome gift for you friend Judy. I am sure she will love it. You could decorate a few pages at the end and leave for anyone that wants to add something later.

I am working on a DVD of pictures with music for my MIL 60th birthday to show at her party tomorrow. Nobody has sent me any photos so it is heavily weighted with pictures of our family and I stole some of her old pictures. Her wedding pictures and then some of when my DH and his sister were little. I would love to turn it into an album later, we'll see.
