i have a vacation booked in Aug that required 201 pts, it is in danger of being canceled at work, i have until roughly july 8th to cancel to get all my pts back

my use year is in march, so i have until feb,28 '07 to use 180 pts or lose them.i do not see myself being able to go between sept-feb except for school holidays, which i do not want to do.

now here's the question,
how difficult do you think it would be to rent these 180 points

Sorry you might have to cancel - I love my job - except when it interfers with my Disney vacations!

Have you considered banking the points? With a March use year (I assume you used March 2006 use year points to book the August trip), you have until the end of August to bank up to 100% of your annual allotment of points. If you bank the pointst, they would be valid for stays between 3/1/2007 and 2/29/2008.

If you used borrowed or banked points to book your August trip, then of course, you cannot bank those points.

Since the points don't expire until the end of February 2007, I think it will be relatively easy to rent your points.

If it were me, I'd advertise them for transfer to another member, rather than to a non-member. If you transfer them, all you have to do is agree upon a price and then make one call to Member Services. No reservations to make, no contracts to write, no payment schedules, no calls back and forth for all the things that come up when you rent to a stranger. It takes a lot less effort on your point to rent to a member.

Good luck -

i'm pretty sure these points are the ones i received when i first purchased in aug'05 and would expire feb'07.

i was thinking about renting to someone at work, have a few people that love disney, but since i know them i would probably give the a cheaper rate.
to rent/transfer would i just post a meaasge on the renting board ?

If you know people that would want to rent your points, I'd go that route first (and I'd probably give them a good deal, too, but I'd make sure they knew what the rack rates were for the time I'm renting them. LOL).

If you want to use the DIS Rent/Trade Board, yes, you would post your offer there. If you haven't already, be sure you read all the info in the Sticky Threads at the top of the Rent/Trade Forum first. Then read a few of the posts and you might even want to do a search on renting to read some experiences that others have had.

Best wishes -

I've rented. Its a pain in the __. But its a better option than nothing. I'd look for someone to transfer, much easier, you don't have to book a ressie and all of the other follow up stuff. Good luck.
