I had orig. reserved room 6634 a Nav. Verh. deck 6 on the Magic for the Costa Maya 06 Cruise. However I found out from the Pass Porter Book (Thanks Dave) that this cabin is open with an obstuuctive view. We will be celebrating our 35th.Anniv. and we heard such nice things about the all enclosed Nav. Verh;s less sun, rain, wind etc... So I just changed it this morning to cabin 6636. Is 6636 all enclosed with the bench seat? And lastly I can't find much on the Nav. Verh;s aboard deck 5.. I always thought that deck 5 was sought after but I sure I am wrong because I know they have a few Nav. Verh's there also. I believe they are 6 inches smaller but is that 6" smaller for the room or 6" smaller for the balcony or 6" smaller for both? Is there a reason that their not talked about as a good Nav. Verh. catch like the ones on decks 6 and 7? We have never cruised before and I just want the Perfect room for DH and I.. Thank You to all and if any pro's out there can stir us in a good closed in Nav. Verh. room number we would be Very Greatful..
Thank You

:sunny: We had great time in the cabin -- even though our trip was shortened by Hurricane Frances. It has the bench seats & enclosed -- and you can see the water when you are sitting on the bench.

We loved it. Nice location on the ship and quiet. :wizard:

From looking at the deck map it seems that 6634 (a Cat 7 room) connects with 6632 (a Cat 6 room). Does that mean that 6634 is one of the rooms that I read about (at least I *think* that I read about it...) that used to be classified as a Cat 6 and was then reclassified? What do they mean that the verandah of the 6634 room is "obstructed" (I know what obstructed means, lol, just what do they mean as far as verandahs go)?

Thanks, T&B

From the few pictures I've been able to see, 6634 has a reg. open Verh. with a sliding door that has a slight cover in an angle by the one side of the door looking out. It is not all enclosed like the true Nav. Verh's. with the bench padded seat and round open port hole. And Yes once this was considered a cat. 5 an 6... So I went with cabin # 6636 because I want the shelter from the eliments but with a view. So I am hoping that cabin 6636 is what I am wanting? Just not alot said about the Nav. Verh's.
Thanks

Tigger & Belle: The former Cat 6s that are now sold as Cat 7s are 6634, 6134, 7120 and 7620.

chatty: I looked on Barb's site, and the room after 6624 is a navigator's veranda with the open porthole. We loved ours. We had a navigators veranda on deck 5 (5534, I think) and loved it. It didn't seem any smaller than the Cat 6 we have had on our prior trips, so I am not sure where the 6" you mention comes from. Sounds like a wonderful, romantic trip.

Does anyone have a picture of one of the Cat 7 rooms that used to be a Cat 6? I'm trying to visualize the difference in the verandahs and having hard time (could be my headache causing my problems, though :) ).

Thank You, Tigger & Belle, I would Love to take credit but I stumbled on this site by accident.. What are you looking for an obstructed view or the all closed in Nav. Verh.? When I called the DCL the CM said that she herself would go for the obstructed view #6634 she said it's the most sought after and I would be sorry if I went with the all enclosed Nav. Verh.? Go figure now I am back to the begining to what's better?
Thanks to ALL!

It's hard to know which verandah to go with in your case.

I'm not sure what we'll end up doing, but we're planning on 2007 so have several months to figure it out. My plan is to learn everything that I can about my options so I can then explain it all to my DH (and of course I will have pretty decided what I'm doing and will present it to my DH in such a way that he will agree with me :rotfl: ). My DH is not the type of person to want to "waste" his time investigating the different options. He's a "make a decision" type guy. Of course I'm just the opposite--I want to analyze, think through, and mull over every decision.

We'll need two rooms so costs add up faster for the more expensive rooms.

Happy planning!

Your DH is just like mine.. He would say, who cares just book something. I know what your going through. I just want to know everything on the obstructive views and the Nav. Verh's.

Hi I just wanted all to know that I just posted a new Topic asking for help knowing everything there is that can be told about the Navigator Verandah's vs the Obstructive Verandah's.
Thanks

The funny thing is that my DH used to so way over-analyze any purchase. He still does about some things--he'll make up a spread sheet figuring out the best deal on an Ipod or other such purchase, but then he'll jump into purchases that cost a lot more money (ie, furniture that we'll keep for many years). Drives me crazy!

Hopefully you'll get lots of good advice on the verandah thread and you'll be able to figure out which one is best for you.

Chatty,

BTW, last week my 5yo was demanding that we move to Michigan. His reason was that our weather is not cold enough for him, with enough snow so he wanted to take our house and move. UGH, in winter? lol

That is so Funny! When I was young I Loved the snow. Now that I put in 49 years in MI I am ready for the warm climates.. Thank You for all of your help.
