From your experience, which Underwater camera did you use and were you happy with it?

We have a Kodak Water&Sport disposable camera and a FUJIFILM QuickSnap Waterproof Camerea. Will these work, or would you suggest something else.

How well do they work?

Thanks for all your help!

We've used the Kodak disposable cameras with moderate success. You just have to remember that they're best used less than 5 feet from the surface... So the sea turtle that you can see 30' down won't get caught on camera. I'm sure a more expensive camera would have a better chance of getting deeper shots.

For just hanging around above the water, you should be fine with either one.

My oldest daughter has used the Fuji underwater camera several times and the pictures come out really good. I was surprised. Keep in mind though when everyone is out snorkeling in CC the water gets cloudy from the sand being stirred up.

Last year we had both a fuji and a kodak underwater camera that we used for snorkling at CC.

IMO the pics from the kodak camera turned out better. So this year we have picked up 4 kodak cameras for our snorkling in St Maarten and CC.

The box says that they are good for up to 35 feet, and I know I have no intention of going that deep, dry snorkle or not. LOL:earseek:

Last year for snorkling off Maui we used the Kodak disposable underwater camers and came out with great pictures so that is what we bought for our upcoming cruise. Box says they're good up to 50 feet deep, but we won't be testing that fact!!!

We took both on our cruise and our best pictures were the ones from the Fuji camera. They were clearer and the colors were more vivid.

Another vote for Fuji. I think the colors come out more vibrant with better clarity than kodak.

Just some advice. The screener at the airport told me to make sure that they do not scan the underwater cameras as the film can be ruined. Make sure you have them hand checked.

The main difference is going to be made by the film. Both companies use a different chemical mixture for their film and provide different results.

Kodak film is best used for bright colors, i.e. blues and yellows.
Fuji Film is best suited for "natural colors", i.e. greens and reds.

That being said, if you are looking for underwater pictures, the Kodak will provide the better color definition. I only typically use Fuji film when I am shooting nature shots.
