Hi! We're looking to change ADRs for our October vacay. We'll probably be a party of 3, including one child who is tube fed and doesn't eat by mouth. I know that our ADR should include all parties - even those not eating - but here's my dilemma:

I've been trying for weeks and can't find an ADR for 3 or even 4 for any time that day....BUT.....an ADR for 2 just opened up!!!

One year, we had an ADR for 4 and one member of our party decided not to come and they were fine with it, but what about if you arrive with 3 for an ADR for a party of 2? An added issue is that it's for CRT and we need to pay in advance. We'll be on DxDP, but haven't added it yet, so we'll be paying OOP for reservations that require prepayment.

Does anyone think there's a chance I could book it for myself and my daughter, and then if my husband decides to come along, we could add him when we arrive? Or will they turn us away? HELP!!!

When showing up with 1 extra, there is always a chance of them being turned away (with the possible exception of Tusker House). The number of guests in the restaurant goes toward fire codes and the like moreso than food prep and table sides.

I'd keep trying for 3 at CRT (since there is usually very high demand for it). For non-prepaid events, checking for 4 may also net you better times than 3, since the system has always had issues with odd numbers.

I just realized that the time of the ADR isn't great for our schedule, but I'm leaving this up because I'd love to hear your opinions...especially with this scenario:

I just checked again, and not only is there a party of 2 available, but there's a party of 1 at the same time. What do you think the chances are that they'd seat us together? Or would it definitely be two tables for 2? Good to know in case the same thing opens up for another time/date.

TIA!

It is never a good idea to under-count the number of guests you have. You run the risk of being told the extra person cannot be seated. Especially at a place such as CRT that is hugely popular and rarely can seat walk ups.

Ask yourself which is worse: Not having the ADR and knowing that ahead of time, or trying to add an extra guest and being told NO right when you are ready to eat.

Even though you said these reservations would no longer work for you, the principle would be the same at every restaurant in DW. I would take both of the reservations, arrive a little early and ask that all of you be seated together. You may have to wait a little longer for a 4 top or two 2 tops together, but at least you will all be guaranteed a seat.

As others have said it is because of the fire and safety codes that everyone in the party needs to be included at every restaurant (not just CRT). We've also seen a situation at one restaurant that was running so far behind schedule they were turning away walk ups, late comers and anyone not included in the res.
