Hello all. As most of you know my grandfather passed away a few days ago. It has really hit me hard, and my grandmother is really taking it bad. They were together for over 60 years. He was doing well, so I made plans, and booked a flight to go visit them june 23, and go back to LAX and do a 3 night layover at disney to visit my DH aunt, husband, and cousin were close, and they are looking forward to it. My grandfather took a severe turn for the worse at a rapid speed to where the choice was made to remove his oxygen mask. I thought I would get to see him since June is not far, but the lord had other plans. I will be helping my grandmother during the month i'm there. I need some magic, and these plans were made before it took a bad turn. I'm staying DLH, and NEVER went during summer season. Being it's the very end of July 27-30 will it be crazy crowded? Also i'm sure there will be no AP rates then correct? If anyone is interested in meeting up with a fellow magic lover please let me know. I'm going to be solo, and would love to have a ride/shopping/tigger tail partner.

So sorry about your grandfather. :flower3:

I was at DLR that same time last summer and it was not crazy crowded. It was nice in the mornings and crowded in the evening but it was never so bad I felt like we couldn't do anything. It was nothing like we saw it over the Christmas holidays. If you are used to going in the middle of Jan, then you might think it was crowded. But we found it to be a nice time. :) Don't know if their birthday promotions or the economy changes that, but I would think it would be about the same.

We will also be there from July 27-Aug 1. We are a family of 4 with 2 cranky teens so I doubt you would want to spend anytime with us. :sad2:
Hoping the crowds are low and the weather is nice. :goodvibes

What time is best to take an afternoon break during this time.

we to will be there 26th of July through 31st of July. We were there last year 3rd week of August and APs were allowed in the park also at that time and it was very manageable so hoping for the same in July!!

We were there close to that time in '06. It was crowded, or more so than the trip we just took in March, but we still had an AWESOME time. You will have no problem finding the magic. :goodvibes I would suggest making a list of the things you REALLY want to do and make them your priority, then anything else will just a bonus. We left in the afternoons to swim, but we had small kids.

I certainly hope you have a wonderful time, and that the trip somehow helps ease your loss. Hugs!

We also had 2 somewhat sulky teens. We encouraged them to go off by themselves. ;) They did enjoy going on Splash Mountain first thing in the morning about 5 times in a row.

Since we had teens and no small kids, we did not leave in the afternoon but we usually left park by 10pm. Mornings were our time to get in lots of rides at DL. Around lunch time we left to go to DCA. We also went to Whitewater Snacks a few times in GCH, just to the left of the DCA exit. It was quiet and cool and uncrowded there and was a great way to relax. We spent the afternoons at DCA and then went back to DL in the evening. No one wanted to leave the parks so we stayed there. Shopping and shows are also a nice break without leaving.

Im expecting it to be crowded !! with the 5 for 3, and the 99 dollar 3 day local park hoppers, and schools being out, I would think super packed.

It's crowded, but VERY doable if you:
a) Get there early (early)
b) Take full advantage of FP
c) Know when to ride which attraction (Ridemax or just surfing these boards both will help with this one). For example, you don't want to start off your day riding the Mark Twain Riverboat or get in line for Nemo at 1PM or so. Generally, you should start off with low-capacity rides without FPs and save high-capacity/less popular rides and shows for the most crowded part of the day.
