I love the popcorn at WDW and I understand it is by Orville Redenbacher. There are so many types of the buttery popcorn by Orville that I was curious if anyone knows which type they use at WDW. I can't believe how many butter types he has! Anyone have a clue as to which one they serve? :confused3

And, sadly enough, no matter if they sell the exact same item in the stores, it will never taste as good as it does at WDW. Sigh. :flower:

I believe the Disney popcorn is vegan, so it might well be a special kind made only for them. :confused3 I am vegan and got the info from several sources that it was safe for me to eat, and I can report that I do believe it's true, as I did not become violently ill after eating it, the way I do when ANY dairy is ingested!!! HTH :wizard:

Ok, I am confused. Just trying to understand so please don't take this the wrong way. How can popcorn be vegan?? I mean it comes from corn (veggie), cooked in veggie oil. The only thing I can figure is the butter put over it make not vegan because it comes from cows??? :confused3

Not butter, just like at the movies. It's probably seasoned cocoanut oil. Or seasoned palm oil.

Orville just grew the popcorn. It's not microwave.

And the point is...................?? :confused3

I knew it couldn't be microwave . . . can you imagine seeing the CM's put a bag in a the mircrowave everytime someone wanted popcorn? :rotfl: Now that would be a sight! :teeth:

Thanks for the idea of it's possible seasoning. Whatever it is . . . it is yummy! :flower:

Never been able to duplicate it but I can tell you the popcorn in a plastic bucket will taste as good a week later at home. That is my final MK souvenier each trip!

Love my plastic bucket! :Pinkbounc

When I am having one of my "I miss Disney moments", I find a Disney show on TV or pop a WDW segment that I taped earlier from the Travel Channel in the VCR, and sit down with my WDW bucket filled with nice fresh popcorn. Ahhh. How we have to compromise till we return! :flower:

My final purchase is two buckets of caramel corn from Sleepy Hollow for the drive home. We usually have one left over for TV watching at home.

1) Yes, you can reproduce the taste.
2) You can buy the same Orville two-part popcorn system.
3) There is the popcorn and the seasoned oil.
4) Any restaurant supplier should have it for sale to the public.
5) There are many commercial pop corn "carts" you can buy.
6) Some are actual carts, others are smaller table-top units.
7) The important part is the popcorn pot or kettle unit.
8) Must do's
... must use the same popcorn mix
... must use a pre-heated kettle popper
... must use the proper temperature (extremely important)

NOTE: As I understand it, WDW popcorn is not vegan, due to the seasoning.

Really?? It has no butter in? Cool! I'm LI too (sorry if that's an incorrect assumption and you're not) - hadn't been diagnosed last time I was at the World and I did have some of that popcorn... actually now I come to think of it - I don't think I liked the taste :0( And it's so hard to come by dairy free treats too :sad2:

I found this at allearsnet.com

http://www.allearsnet.com/din/vegcsparks.htm

"For some vegan snack ideas, soft pretzels are all vegan. I believe that all Disney french fries are vegan, except for those clearly advertised as McDonalds fries (made with beef flavoring). There are also fresh fruit carts in all the theme parks, with some surprisingly tasty choices. And I was surprised to learn that the popcorn sold in all the parks is, despite its "buttery" appearance, vegan. "
