We are currently planning a trip Christmas week to include New Years. We just need a tent spot. What are ny chances of piecing together a reservation and how often should I call? Or should I just reserve another room? I don't want to wait hoping to get this and then be left without a room. Any advice is appreciated. We have stayed in the cabins but never tent camping. Is it warm enough in late December? I'm excited!!!!!

It's a busy time, but not impossible to get. I would be calling at least every few days. The closer the date gets here the more likely someone cancels at last second and you get what you are looking for. Lots of people have pulled this off, but it is going to take some patience.

As far as another room goes, you can go ahead and book your trip with another room to guarantee your stay. If a tent site opens up you can simply cancel the room and replace it with your tent site. At least this way you are locked in.

Best of luck to you

Late December can be cold. We've been there when it was in the 20's at night.

I pieced together our Christmas trip last year. I'd do the online booking if it is possible for you, holding on the phone and then explaining myself would drive me bonkers. I checked every day for a while, mostly in the morning but sometimes in the afternoon as well, sometimes twice a day. I have a desk job, so popping in while on a conference call or something worked out well for me.

Best of luck!

We piece together our vacations to Disney too. It's a lot of work but my DW loves to get the best deals (and I love her for it) to maximize our vacation. I cannot tell you how many times she made a reservation, even as a place holder, only to change it later because our plans changed (itinerary) and we switched it to something better. Same thing with the Campground itself. One year we couldn't get the dates we wanted (over Thanksgiving holiday). We ended up with dates that were shorter than we wanted. Eventually with persistence someone else cancelled their reservation and we were able to move into the dates we really wanted.

Don't give up and keep trying. We currently are reserved in the campground for June of 2016, so it doesn't hurt to start FAR out too. Our "Rate" may change between now and then, but at least we know we can get the type of site we want and when we want it.

I've been checking every day to add on 1 (!!!) day to our December trip (need a full hook up) for 2 weeks now. If we can't get it we'll just leave a day early, but I'm holding out hope :)

Good luck!

Don't lose faith.... It was less than a month before Thanksgiving when we were able to add the extra day.

The representative we spoke with, when we changed the reservation, did indicate that they would have to "Cancel" our old reservation and create a "New" reservation. During that short time, however, there is a "Small" chance that someone else could "Snatch" your old reservation (now cancelled) before getting the "NEW" reservation. Additionally, they had to send back our old deposit and we had to give them a new deposit (there on the phone). It may be different for you, but just be aware of what "could" happen. In our case, everything worked out fine and we had an awesome vacation.

Thank you everyone!! If i do it online do I just pay each day in full as it becomes available? I'm thinking I will need 3 days that aren't currently available.

Good luck!!! I booked our site for our 6 night Christmas trip 2 months ago and it was nerve racking! I called and lucked out with a very patient and helpful cast member.

Every separate reservation number you have, no matter how you piece your time together, will have to pay one night's deposit if it's a room-only reservation. So if you get 1 day you need, you essentially do pay in full because the length of the reservation matches the deposit requirement. If you get all 3 days in one reservation, it's still only one day to pay as a deposit.

Good luck! Keep trying and be persistent. We hear lots of success stories of people cobbling their dates together successfully.
