Hey all,
We are a family of four me, my dh, ds (8) and dd (6 at time of visit). We are looking to go to disney for spring break 08, yeah ughhhh. We went last year in late august just before the kids started school and they want to go back. I do not want to take them from school to go and hubby can probably get spring break off this year (which will only happen about every 4 years). Sooo back we go. I have been to disney (both fl and ca) several times as a child and then twice with my dh. Both times with dh we stayed at WL and loved it, the kids loved it last summer. Do not remember where we stayed as a child besides many of the resorts were not there at the time. My first visit to DW was the year it opened.

This time around we are wanting to go a little more economically. We are staying on disney property no question. The extra benefits are worth it. We will be flying from Ohio so would have to do the car thing to stay off property, uggh to much trouble in my book.

We are looking at CB or either of the PO ones. Any opinions from the veteran travelers here? Not interested in the value resorts, sorry. There is nothing wrong with them they are just not for us. Location of most of the other moderate resorts seems a little removed from things. We are open to suggestions though.
A question has arisen about the buses in CB. My dh believes that they only stop for going to the parks is at the CH and that all the stops inside the resort are internal only. Is this the case? Is this the same for PO resorts?

thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the DIS!

We've stayed at both and it is a toss up - we love the vacation within a vacation feel at CBR, it is beautiful, but we do only book a prerred location now. The buses do stop at all stops and when it is busy they have buses at both ends of the resort, if that makes sense..or I should say tney did when we were there during very busy summer times.

There is also an internal bus. I'm sure you've looked at the photos and reviews of all the resorts here and on www.allearsnet.com.

POR and FQ are also lovely, each in a unique way. FQ is smaller, easily walkable, food court food is cooked to order, but the food court always feels a little crazy and never quite cleaned up. Still, it is a great resort. Have only stayed in building 4 there, right next to food court and bus stop (3 visits)

POR - stayed in AB section, building 14, which was also very nice! Directly next to food court, bus stop and parking lot. Did not like the Mansions side as it was like a maze trying to find the room all three times. I know others love the mansions, and we were surprised at how much we liked AB!

All 3 have great pools for the kids - CBR has a quiet pool in every village, which is also a plus.

You are definitely going at an incredibly busy time, so it might be nice to have a very relaxing resort to call home :)

Good luck in your decision! :)

All three are great! My favorite is POR AB section. The second favorite is CBR. They are all beautiful resorts! You'll enjoy which ever one you choose. I will mention though that the main pool at CBR may still be under renovation during the time you visit so you may want to check into that. If so, stay at PO. Alot of people prefer the pool at POFQ for kids over the POR. Check out the photos mentioned above and select the resort that appeals to you the most!

Enjoy!

Definitely the POFQ! We are returning there this March from the
15th-20th. My DD will be 14 and DS will be 10. Last time we
stayed there was about 5 years ago. Had a blast!Stayed at AKL
two years ago, too spread out for me. We like the smaller resort
and also the extra benefit of boat to DTD. Kids loved the pool.

Don't be so quick to dismiss CSR. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Port Oleans Riverside is my favorite, PO French Quarter would be ok too, don't forget from either you can take a boat to down town disney which can be a nice trip.

CSR is absolutely beautiful and the newest moderate. I know you didn't mention it but I second Buzz2001 - it's our favorite moderate.

I'd swear the CSR pool is bigger than the deluxe BWI's Luna Park pool too. I know we thought CSR's dig site pool was definitely nicer than BWI or POR and there were several nice quiet pools too...

Thanks for the info all. I will definitely look into CSR.

One other question I have: Where did you find the info on the pool at CB being closed in 08. I have called disney several times and can not get this confirmed. I also do not find it anywhere else on any of the other disney type boards. Just curious.

thanks for all the help.
now if you could help with AAA. Reading boards here it seems many people have had the same experience as I with them.
