I took my grandkids to the Poly twice and planning a June trip, looking to stay somewhere else and am confused. I didn't feel we got our money's worth at thenPoly because we only had time to use the pool twice, watch fireworks on the beach once and not much else! I do love the location and the Hawaiian theme.

Grandkids are boys 6 and 8. They love a sand beach, Hollywood studios, downtown Disney and we hope to hit a waterpark for the first time.

I love the idea of bunk beds and am seriously considering the Wilderness Lodge.

I just don't know where might be best...other considerations are Port Orleans hotels. Am I overlooking anything?

Thanks :)

We've enjoyed every resort we've stayed at, but the WL is one of our favorites :). I think the WL would be a great choice as the resort is beautiful, the pool is alot of fun, Roaring Forks is great for quick CS meals, and it's nice having the boat transportation to MK as well as to the CR where you can easily hop on the monorail and visit the Poly and GF. We had a bunkbed room at the WL on one of our stays and our boys loved it. It's also quite a bit cheaper than the monorail resorts, but is still very convenient to the MK :goodvibes.

Thanks! I really think I'm going to book it through Disney with the spring discount. If another discount orfree dining is offered can i add that or am I locked in?

WL & POR-Riverside are 2 of our fav resorts. Both are great.

Yes, if a better discount comes out, you can switch to the better discount. I'm not sure what you booked now- a package with park tickets, or a room only discount? But if you booked a room only Discount, and you wanted to switch to Free Dining if it comes out, Disney can do that- they have to cancel the room only, and re-book with the Dining pkg.

You'd have to do the Disney Math to figure out what's the best price for you. For us, Free dining with moderate is the best deal. Room discount is best for us at the Deluxe resorts.

WL is great. We loved our stay there. We didn't have a bunkbed room, but I was so happy with everything. If you want bunkbeds, I'd choose WL over AKL (other bunkbed room) for the location.

Or, what about the treehouses? Those have bunkbeds...

You say you want to spend time at DHS. Have you considered the Epcot Resorts? The YC/BC has a great pool and those rooms are comfortable and roomy. Plus, BC has a sandy beach. Would you consider that area?

we just got back from port orleans french quarter- we took our two boys ages 4 and 6... i have to say before we got there i was a little unsure because of the theme of the resort not very "disney " in my opinion... but once we got there we LOVED it.. we were in building 3 on the ground floor. everything there was so close- less than a 2 minute walk to anything- the food court/ pool/hot tub.. common areas.. it was so nice.. the resort was so nice and peaceful.. we all LOVED it.. and it was just renovated so it was like it was brand new!.. every morning there were people opening the door passing out fun little trinkets to the kids that they loved to play with through out the day- everyone was so happy and friendly there- i'd def stay there again...

ooh and another HUGE plus - at all of the parks the bus station for POFQ was soo close to the entrance- not a far walk at all - which was a HUGE plus after a long day at the parks!
