Please help me. I need advice as to whether I should switch my concierge ressie at GF to lagoon view. I need to know which room numbers might meet my "needs". I appreciate any and all advice. I have concierge privileges so the food perks don't matter.

I would like to have a view of the MK;
I would like a private balcony;
I would like to have a non-smoking room;
I would like the room to be spacious;
I would like to have 2 queen beds;
I would like an upper floor room (not first floor) for safety reasons;
I would like not to have to walk a great distance to get to monorail (knee surgery) but far enough away to avoid noisy children, elevator noises, etc.
I would like peace on earth and good will toward everyone.:bounce:

Many rooms have a MK view. Dormer rooms (only) have a private balcony. All rooms are non-smoking. All lagoon view rooms are about the same size (dormer rooms are slightly smaller, but appear larger). No problem with the two queen beds, almost every room has them (the king rooms are VERY hard to get). All dormer rooms are located on the top floor (either 4 or 5, depending on the section of the building). All lagoon view rooms are in lodge buildings - none of the walks to any of the buildings is very far.

My suggestion is requesting "MK View Dormer Room" - that'll take care of ALL your requests. :)

Wait I don't understand , we are also going to Gf next year and have main building concierge, are you saying there is no lagoon view from the main building ????? What is there then, I am confused ??? Help/

In the main building there are three types of views. The first one is a marina view, rooms in this section have views of the marina, part of the lagoon, fireworks, and the castle. The next one is a courtyard view, and these rooms have a view of the courtyard pool, and fireworks. And, the third view is a wedding pavilion view, and these rooms have a view of the wedding pavilion, theme pool, lagoon, and Polynesian Resort.

The lodge concierge in Sugar Loaf has either a marina view (no castle view) or a courtyard pool view.

You'll be okay lizmc. Disneyispi is going on the grand plan, so has access to both concierge services without staying in the lodge or main building. We were at GF this past July and had an amazing view of the castle (room 4404). It was dead center of our balcony. It was so cool watching the fireworks and hearing the sounds from the park. If the wind was blowing right, you could even hear the wolf howling from Haunted Mansion.

Hope your trip is magical.

Even though we were in the main building, our balcony was pretty much the same as in the other buildings. The balconies went the length of the building and each one was seperated by privacy panels. We accessed the balcony from our room and even though we could hear the people on the balcony next to us, you couldn't see them unless you leaned over the railing. A standard balcony has 2 chairs and a small round table, comfortable for 2-3 people. I think what Cali-D meant by the dormers having private balconies is that there is no one adjacent to you. The balconies are more enclosed and a little bit smaller. Here's a photo of the main building overlooking the theme pool. I think the rooms on the top floor are what Cali-D was referring too. The rooms below show a standard balcony, you just can't see the privacy panels seperating them from each other. You can check out Deb's site for some great GF pics also http://www.wdwig.com/g_gf.htm

Ok - I've read ALL the posts re: the GF and I have decided - I'm staying where I am, i.e. on the GF at the concierge level. Everyone's posts re: the ambiance, the food offerings, and more importantly the close proximity to everything. With my impending knee surgery, it's best that I be as close to the monorail and other features as possible. I REALLY APPRECIATE everyone's responses to my queries, they made my decision a LOT wasier to make.

I've also decided to bring my laptop with me so that I can post my trip reports while I'm there! AND, I'm bringing my digital camera so I can take LOTS of pictures, not just of GF but of the decorations, the events, and up-to-date menus.

Thanks again for easing my decisions!

I think you mentioned in another post that you were confirmed for a room in the lodge concierge, which is Sugar Loaf. Are you going to request an upgrade to the main building then for your MK view and easier access? Maybe this is something that your pre-planner can help with.

I can't wait to see those pics and hear all about your trip. Wishing you the best of luck with your knee surgery. I hope it goes smoothly for you and that you have a wonderful stay at the GF.
