Our kids are out of school March 19-28 and we are considering doing a Southern CA trip using frequent flyer miles and our marriott reward points as much as possible. We especially want to go to the SD Zoo, Legoland and maybe Sea World (Sea World San Antonio is not too far from us so I wouldn't feel bad skipping it)

We would plan a couple days for DL but since we've done WDW several times and may get to go again in Nov 05, the mouse is not the main focus of the trip. DH & I spent one day at DL several years ago

There are five of us, kids ages 3, 6, and 9. DH travels in the area for business so he is somewhat familiar with traffic, etc. I always plan trips way in advance so I feel lost trying to do something two months ahead of time. Hopefully you Vets can help me save some time.

Here is what I am thinking about:

Travel Sat 19th, Fly into LAX stay in Anaheim,

Su-Mo & part of day Tue do DL

Leave Tue afternoon after lunch & drive to Carlsbad

Legoland on Wed

Thur & Fri in San Diego--Zoo definitely one of those days

Sat open, probably still in San Diego

Sun, am drive back to LAX, hopefully traffic won't be too bad, and fly home

Would the Southern Ca City pass be the best value for ticket admission considering the places we want to go?

What is the advantage of using the good neighbor hotels close to DL? Shuttle Service?

I think the Citypass is a good deal, but possibly not great- I have done the math but I can't remember... Anyhow I wanted to say- Legoland is great and all, and we have gone many times- but it is not Disneyland. If you go in thinking Disney you will be dissapointed. After saying that this next bit will seem odd- it is only about $10 more for the 2 day LL pass. There are all these workshops and labs where you can build w/Lego's and if your kids like them as much as mine did at those ages you will need extra time.
The Zoo s fantastic, don't skip it if it is foggy- the animals like fog and even rain!
You do not have Knotts Berry Farms on your list.. I guess you have to cut somewhere but Knotts is a wonderful park. Great for the younger kids with Cmp Snoopy and all.

Mousesavers.com has Disneyland and area info and discount ticket info...

If you go to Sea World in California it will ruin Sea World San Antonio for you forever...
