Sometimes it just disappears and I uninstall DING and reinstall...is there another way to put it back and active again?? It's gone again this morning, though I can access it by going to my programs. I just want the icon back.

thanks for you're help.

1st make sure it's just not hiding
. Right click that area and select properties select Custom and Select always show for DING

You might have to many things starting up on startup. When this happens some things get left off .This is why it's OK through Programs and sometimes on startup.

I keep my startup to a minimun with just Antivirus ,Ding and few other things. I have a program that won't allow things ( Quicktime ,Adobe, realone)from automatically being added to the startup unless I ok it.

If running XP go to run and type in msconfig the last tab is startup and see how much is checked. Expand what they are and see if any are not really needed like the ones I mentioned above. Please be careful what you choose as some will cause you to have problems if not running

Thank you, I do have alot running thanks to my DD - I did what you said and i have alot checked, including DING. Wasn't real sure what to do once I opened it and saw DING checked. Not sure what expanding file mean't:confused3

I hate being a computer dummy.

i'm not familiar with Ding, but is it possible that the icon is just being hidden? with newer version of windows, by default, it hides the tray icons of applications that are inactive for a while but if you click the << just to the left of them, it shows all of them. if it still shows Ding, what you can do is right-click on the time displayed on the right, click on properties at the bottom. on the taskbar tab, at the bottom is an option to hide inactive icons. you can either uncheck that or if you click on customize, you can specify for each application whether to hide when inactive / always hide / always show. so you can make ding always show.

Brad - thank you I did exactly what you said.

I found "DING" in my past items, not current and changed the "behavior" from always hide when inactive to always show, clicked apply, ok and still nothing, though it still shows in my programs.

I work on it some more, thanks again.
