Hi, sorry to bother ya but I don't know what to do...

I was at the Magic Kingdom yesterday and I was using my D90 and a 16G memory card that had used the day before at DHS, then all of the sudden my camera gave me an error, the message was that the memory card was damage, corrupted something like that and I couldn't see any of my pictures! :worship:

I cried :sad1: because I had many pictures there and wanted to see if is any way to save them, a nice gentleman that was sitting next to me watching the parade told me about a way to save them, I don't want to do anything to the card until I know how or what to do. PLEASE advice :sad1::sad1::sad1:

My setting was RAW if that makes any difference, this has never happened to me, I don't know why or how can I prevent it from happening again.

thanks

Do you have a laptop along that you can try to view and download the photos to? The most important is going to be getting another device to recognize the card. If it will recognize it then you may be able to see the photos right away or else there are several softwares that will recover photos.

There are a few recovery programs available online. I've used Recuva a few times on both my hard drive and memory cards. Check with your card manufacturer to see if they offer a software recovery program. Good luck, hopefully others have some better ideas to help you out.

Tips for the future.
Always reformat your card in the camera you are using.
If possible buy more smaller cards (4x4GB) than one large card (16GB). This way if you lose one card you did not lose everything.

Try looking at the files on the card on a computer before you panic or get upset. I have had several instances where my camera couldn't see or read the pictures (even though it was the camera that took the pictures) but my computer was able to see them and read them without a problem.

Thank you so much for all your help and responses. I do have my laptop but I didn't wanted to do anything before knowing if it was OK to do so. OK, Im going to try that. thanks again.
