Help please! I need stocking stuffer ideas for 12 year old boy...

Last year you wonderful Disers suggested I go to Michael's Craft Store and buy craft kits, etc....It was GREAT! I'm going there tomorrow and I'm just wondering if there's anything new I should keep my eyes open for? Suggestions from other stores are welcomed too! Thanks.

I have a DS12 also. I'm going to get him some lottery Scratch Offs (he does enjoy those), some Starburst, & Sour Patch Kids. I don't have any other ideas. Although he does love decks of cards so I may get him a pack or two.

Craft kits would NEVER work/have worked with him. He has never had any interest.

The older they get, the harder it is-the dollar tree just doesn't cut it any more.

DS 11 and DS 15 (and dd 9and dd 13) are getting lots of candy, Slim Jims, Beef Jerkey in a can (like chewing tobacco), iTunes gift cards, maybe slippers or socks.

We also have St Nick stop by our house on St. Nick day (Dec 6) so I have 8 stockings fo fill.

Love to hear more ideas.

Tell me about it! I was just there today. I bought a couple of things for the 8 year old boy, but that's it. These are my cousin's boys. I'm good on his stocking and the 10 year old's. You mentioned candy, and that's a good idea. Only thing is this 12 year old is very conscious of his health. And that's NOT a bad thing either.

Some people call them "Instants", I believe.

They are lottery tickets that you just "scratch off" the gray area with a coin to see if you are a winner. Winning tickets can be $1.00 winners, $5.00 winners, and all the way up to huge amounts (the most common are $1.00 winners).

Here, they are sold in grocery stores, 7-Elevens, liquor stores, etc.

I have two boys (13 and 15) and I'm putting in mostly candy (because it IS so hard with boys this age to find stocking stuffers) But here's my plan....

A pair of winter gloves
Their favorite team's winter beanie hat
Small bottle of their favorite Axe spray
Maybe some extra school supplies? (pack of pencils, erasers, etc)
And then their favorite candy

Actually my 13yr old said that it was OKAY with him if his stocking was filled with just gummies. LOL So he will get a couple bags of those, some gum, butterfingers & whoppers. And my oldest will get some beef jerky, gum, almond joy & skittles. I also always get them each a plastic candy cane filled with hershey kisses and recee cups.

If you have a Cracker Barrel restaurant their store has some fun toys and candy you don't see every day at Target. Some of the stocking stuffer sized toys we looked at yesterday were pullback racing eyeballs, a tiny cap shotgun, gyroscope, small crank flashlight, lots of various fun balls, Gumby and Pokey figures. They also had Big League Chew gum and tons of other fun candy items.

My Michaels has a huge display of those plastic/rubber animals but this year also had mythical and magical creatures like dragons and minotaurs as well. Could be fun if your son enjoys fantasy books.

I put lottery scratch off in my daughters stocking all the time- she loves those! She is 11 now so craft kits are pretty much over with here- I usually stick her small gits in her stocking too like nintendo DS games- anything that can fit gets stuffed in the stocking. This year I am putting a new cell phone case in there and a new itouch case. Always gets toothbrush, deodorant etc in there too..we usually hang 2-3 stockings each so it takes a bit to fill them so anything is fair game in the stocking LOL.

I have a 12 and 14 year old. Every year, they get an ornament in their stocking. I also put whatever small gifts they are getting (DS game, DVD, etc.) into their stocking, and fill the rest of the space with candy (theatre candy boxes are great for stockings) and small items they might like. My ds loves Slim Jims. Both kids get a glass bottle of Coke in their stocking, too.

There are a lot of card games (Scrabble Slam, Monopoly Deal, etc.) that might fit nicely into a stocking.

A couple of big hits when DS was about that age were a joke book, whoopie cushion and a pooping reindeer (pooped brown jelly beans).

Other standbys were socks, gloves, hat, new toothbrush, body spray, DVD, small lego sets, gift cards (> $10) for McDonalds, Subway, iTunes, etc.

I always put an orange or tangerine in the toe. Then I roll up several $1's. A rubber band ball is always a hit. Batteries for the electronics. I shop for stocking stuffers all year long and I stuff two for my son because each of his grandmothers made one for him. I get high quality chocolate-trader Joes has tiny bars. I don't put much candy in them because he's just tired of candy after Halloween. I look for long things to stick out of the top, a yo yo, this year I have an harmonica, pack of mechanical pencils. I got a Saints knit cap and will put that in one of them. Last year I found a great flute type thing that had this wonderful haunting sound like a native american instrument. I usually throw in a fast food gift card or two and one from Itunes. My son would never have liked a craft kit unless it was somehow involving physical activity; he's a shark and doesn't sit still much. I find little super balls, a bag of marbles was once a hit. I get a Godiva Santa, an ornament for the tree and maybe a pair of gloves if they fold up well.
There always seems to be an old fashioned toy in one of them. Good luck.
