We are going to be in DL next week from Wed the 14th to late Sat night the 17th. I have ressies at the Candy Cane Inn (because we love it there and we already know that :goodvibes) however, when the AP rates came out I thought it might be a good time to take advantage of the lower DLH rates so I called and got ressies there for the same dates only they don't have a room for Friday night!!! So I have ressies for Wed and Thurs. I was hoping that a room will become available by then....just one little standard one...not asking much right? Surely the hotel can't be filled to capacity could it? :confused3 Apparently it is. I have called a couple of times a week up until today and there is still no availablity for Fri. Since we are flying and because it would make my dh crazy, I don't want to spend vaulable park time Friday morning hoping they'll find me a room. And if they don't, I don't want to have to call around looking for a room for one night and then traisping (sp?) around with our luggage just for one night.

Question #1: What do you think my chances are of getting a room?

I have stayed at the DLH once before and I am mostly enticed by having the monorail which sounds awesome but the monorail would really only be nice at night because it's too slow for MM's and the Candy Cane Inn does have a shuttle. And apparently there will be three magic mornings next week (Thur, Fri and Sat because of the CHOC walk Sun) which is enticing because the park will be crowded BUT, if we get there right at rope drop and get our FP's it still should be okay, right? MM use to be more of a must for us when our boy was younger. He's almost 8 now and there aren't too many rides in Fantasyland that are a must do anymore. So it's really just Space Mountain and Nemo...maybe Peter Pan that we'd do and if we did those first thing after rope drop do you think we'd be okay? Lastly, it would cost me $200 more....which could be put to better use with food, souveniers (sp?) and the trick or treat party?

Question #2: What should I do? I have to cancel my DLH hotel ressies by tomorrow morning if I'm not going to stay there.

WOW! I am really rambling...I just don't know what to do. This is probably our last trip before our AP's expire in Jan. We might make it there in Dec as we have never been to the park at that time of year but I am sure the rates won't be cheap then! Thanks for any comments or insight you can offer. You guys are great...someone always thinks of something that I didn't so thanks in advance! :)

I would stick with your original plans, save the $ and the worrying. :goodvibes

Of course, I've never stayed at either but that option just sounds less stressful.

I don't know your chances, but are you talking to in house reservations, or are you calling an 800 general number? I heard that if you call in house, that your chances become better at getting the room you want.

And I would wait until the last moment and see if you get the extra night, and if you don't, I would just stay at the CCI, I wouldn't waste valuable time running from one hotel to the next. And remember you are paying big bucks to go on vacation, so it is not only costing you time, but money you spent to do one thing and your not doing it, AND then on top of that your dh is upset... Not a good scenario all around.

Not sure of the chances of getting a room but at this point even if you do it will probably be at a higher/premium rate than the first two nights. Also when we were down there in August and stayed at DLH the monorail was pretty unreliable for trips back to the room.

I would say a big reason to stay at the DLH is the pool. If you aren't inclined to use it, it might be another reason to stick with Candy Cane Inn.

No matter what you choose have a great trip.

Stick with CCI. I've been looking at rates for the same weekend and the Disneyland Hotel has been booked for awhile.

I say stick with the CCI. You'll get a free breakfast, and you will MISS that shuttle after a day walking around the parks. It's a LONG walk back to the DLH!

I understand the lure of staying on Disney property--really I do! But since you've got sort of an unsure thing going, I would wait until another trip... :thumbsup2

Middle ground could be staying at DLH then moving to CCI.

You would still get Thurs and Fri MMs, then check out Friday and move over to CCI. Start the day at DCA on Saturday instead of fighting everyone at DL. :)

I think if I could I'd wait until tomorrow and then cancel the DLH if they don't have a room for every night. When you're going for just a few nights it's more stress to move around, CCI is a great hotel, you'll be happy there. :)

I decided to cancel the DLH ressies. I hadn't even thought that IF they did find a room, they might charge me and arm and a leg for it (just because they could really ;)) I know I really like the Candy Cane Inn, I just really wanted three magic mornings in a row. Oh well. Looks like I'll just have to be at the gate early for rope drop. At least I'll have Candy Cane Inns' yummy breakfast in me by then AND I'll save some money that I can now spend elsewhere - oh the irony of that! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Again, thanks for your help. I so appreciate it!

Kathy
