Hi....
FIRST let me start by saying im 37 years old and have never been to disney... now that being said, we are trying to plan a disney trip feb 11-15 '13. We are wanting to camp in disney ( we have a camper and are avid campers). I literally have no clue where to start. Can some one please help me??!??!! :worship:

Well first you need to make a reservation.

There are 4 types of sites.

Since you have a camper, the Partials sites (loops 1500 and 2000) are not for you since they have no sewer hookups and are for pop-ups and tents. They are the cheapest sites at the Fort.

Full hook-up sites are the next most expensive. They have a sewer hookup (in addition to power/water/cable at all sites) but are a little removed from the center of the Fort. They are quiet, have a drive and sand pad, but are not "in the middle of the action". These sites are fine for lots of folks.

Preferred sites are full hook-up sites but are down near the beach and Fort restaurant. They cost a little more than Fulls. Also have a driveway and a sand pad.

Premiums are the most expensive sites and have a wider/longer concrete drive and no sand pad. They are more centrally located to the Fort and are the most expensive.

The dates you are looking at are just before the President's Weekend/spring break period starts so getting a reservation should not be hard. Use the WDW main pricing tool ("hotel" only not package") to look at prices for different site types and get a reservation down. Then follow this board closer to time.

PS - and I should say, :welcome:

Just spend some time surfing the boards...you'll learn A LOT!! Camping at the Fort is like camping most anywhere except it's one of the nicest, cleanest, best-cared for campgrounds around.

I agree with Bama Ed in saying reservations first. Make them ASAP.

Don't know what your finances are like, but if you can - rent a golf cart. It's not necessary, but looping in the cart is one of our favorite things to do. You can get one from Tee Time carts way cheaper than through Disney, and Kenny will deliver and pick it up from the Fort.

Relax and enjoy the planning...it's half the fun of the trip experience. :goodvibes

Welcome !

You have 4 days planned. In WDW that is a very short amount of time. You said "we" it would help if we knew the ages. I'm assuming parks are more important than spending time at The Fort ?

If in a tent or popup ask for a site near to the comfort station. Not a big deal during the day but at night is important. Also find a way to carve out another two days for your trip. A week should be considered a minimum (imho). There is just so much to do, 4 days is just not enough to even scratch the surface.

Here are some good sites to check out:

http://fly.hiwaay.net/~jlspence/faq_fw.htm

http://allears.net/index.html

http://touringplans.com/

The first is a FAQ on FW. It has a ton of good info. The second is Deb Willis' site. It is a wonderful site for planning, right down to the menus at the restaurants.

The third is the most important. If this is your first trip to Disney World the thing you must understand is that it is not like any amusement park you have ever been to, or ever will again. DW is 45 square miles of pure entertainment with so many options and attractions that you could come back for years and have a different experience each time.

However, to get the most out of the trip you need to plan your trip. I have seen too many people walking into the parks, grab a map, then start looking around confused as to where to start. If you end up as one of them it is pretty much guaranteed that you will become frustrated and not get as much out of the trip as you would like.

The way around this is to pick up The Unofficial Guide by Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa. It will help you develop a road map and tour plans that will greatly enhance your visit, especially if you only have 4 days. The book and the website will be immensely helpful in ensuring that you and your family have a great time.

A word of caution; don't assume you have a lot of time. For instance, if you have little ones and want to try come character meals, especially at Cinderella's Castle, you need to make reservations as soon as they are available, which is generally 6 months out.

Most of all, enjoy! Planning the trip is 1/2 the fun!
