Hi, I am trying to plan a trip for 4 adults 1 child (3yrs) to Disneyland.
The Candy Cane Inn sounds great (free shuttle/breakfast) The Park Vue Inn also seems good (close walk, free breakfast)
Both the Candy Cane Inn and Park Vue I believe have big rooms to fit 4 adults 1 child for an affordable rate.
Can anyone help me decide, do you have pictures of rooms, or recent stays at either? Any advise would be helpful. Thank you

I haven't stayed in either yet. I do have reservations to stay in the PVI in August, however. From what I've read here and in other places, it seems like many people have stayed in both and have had good experiences in each.

tripadvisor.com lists them both as very popular hotels among users (with a very slight edge to CCI).

For me, I picked the PVI to stay at because of its proximity to the park. One of the biggest things for me was that I wanted to be within walking distance to the park, and the PVI was about as close as it gets. The CCI is still within walking distance, but it's a little bit longer of a walk. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either hotel.

Thank you. I read the tripadvisor posts.
I was interested to know what DIS board members thought just to see if they agree. Have a great trip and hope you tell us how your trip turned out.

I'd also suggest PVI first because it's so close. And if you can hit up the social hours during you stay it's a great perk you won't find on the rest of the street.

If you go with CCI I doubt you would be dissapointed you weren't in PVI, they are both great places to stay.

I just posted on Spacemania Park Vue board and have a couple pictures on there and a few more on my TR board. We really liked the Park Vue!:thumbsup2

Personally I'd go with PVI for the location- it's literally RIGHT across the street from the Harbor entrance. If you're walking fast and make the traffic light, it's about 5 minutes.
Plus there are positive responses on this board about the quality of the breakfast and the lite dinner.
The only drawbacks are that its got a typical motor motel layout with parking/walkways in front of the rooms. If you want a quieter room, ask for a second floor room towards the back of the complex.

I love the CCI, but I would be hesitant to put four adults and a child into a single room. We had 2 adults and 1 teen in a standard room and I would not want any more people in there. In a standard room there is not a lot of extra floor space.

Thank you raftislander for telling me about room size.
I checked with PVI and they have a 2 room 3 queen beds suite with a AAA discount. More than I wanted to spend so shortened trip by one day. Not sure how room is laid out and assume it has just one bathroom.
I am finally getting excited. Trip includes Me, DH, DS,& DA plus 3yr old granddaughter. Thank you all for the pictures, that really helped!!!

I thought the max number of people per room at CCI was 4.:confused3

edit: Thanks abdreaming for clearing that up for me below. :)

Hi OnTheRoadAgain. The CCI has a Deluxe/Premium Room for 5, it comes with extras, in room breakfast and late checkout. I really liked the CCI, but decided on PVI after reading the posts from others about how close it is to DL.

abwdreaming, we have not stayed as of yet but booked the same room. If you go onto park vue's website thaey have a room chooser link then a tap for a pdf file to open up. if you open the pdf file you can see the lay out and yes there is only one bathroom :goodvibes.

WOW, 6Smiles thank you so much!
I checked out the site and showed my DH the room lay out - he is very happy. :yay:
When is your trip? Please let us know how you like the room at PVI and wish you a Happy Vacation.

I'm being a very sneaky mommy. My anniversary countdown is also our trip countdown, but the kids are not aware of this fact. They have been helping me plan for next year just in case something happens I don't want them to be disappointed. Our trip is slated for 9/30 -10/9 at this point and everything is so far falling into place. Just need final verification from DHs work which we can't get until end of July beginning of August.

Hope all goes as planned for your Anniversary celebration & Disneyland trip.
Now, I wonder where the PVI two room suite is located: upstairs, downstairs, front, back etc.??? Really does not matter I am just happy to have finally decided where to stay.
Now, tickets, possible shows PS and Dinning PS. I expect Christmas to be BUSY!

Just want to put in another vote for CCI. Haven't stayed at PVI, but love the free breakfast, slightly larger "deluxe" room, pool and hot tub, AAA discount, and super friendly staff at CCI. Also a bonus: the free shuttle for CCI only--runs often and only goes to and from CCI so no waiting for any other stops. (the walk is pretty quick, too!) :)

I just came back from Disneyland. We stayed at PVI's 3 queens 2 room suite for 4 nights. Our room was way back, downstairs, right next to the guest laundry room. I assumed it would be noisy but actually it was not. We all loved our room. Very specious for 3 people. Everyone got her own bed so we had good rest after each exhausting day.

I chose PVI because I did not want to deal with shuttles. During the 4 days, we went back to the hotel between 5:30~6:30 pm to take advantage of their free light dinner, changed clothes for the night, took a brief break, then went back to Disney. We stayed until almost the closing time every day.

I also loved the birthday and graduation celebration they did for my children. I called to make the arrangement without telling my kids, so it was really a surprise for them.

My tripadvisor review is still pending. I posted 10 pictures there.
For this board, I do not have enough posts to qualify for posting any links yet, so I can't post my web-album link here. Sorry.

Ok I can post links now. Here you go.

abwdreaming, I just sent you a message with my online album link. There are some pictures of PVI's 3 queen 2-room suite.

I went to PVI in person to ask them where their suites were and put in a room request (we were staying next door at Desert Inn & Suites, but had already booked PVI for our next trip). I booked a 2Q suite with the sleeper couch in the living room, and those are located 2 on bottom (rooms 111 & 112- near the middle of the hotel) and the rooms directly above. We need a ground floor room for the stroller (there are no elevators, and the stairs looked like they would be difficult with the strollers!).

I used to never worry about where my room was but now I always put in a request for a room "away from the road/parking" or top floor if there are elevators.

Everyone has been wonderful posting pictures, great information details, advise! byebyekitty your picture link was perfect, Nice to see the actual room.
BayAreaMom thank you so much for the no elevator issue with strollers! Never even thought about that. My granddaughter 3yr will still need a stroller. Hum.... can't remember what age I stopped using a stroller for my children????

My 5 yo still uses strollers! Esp at Disneyland- call her lazy but I just want her to have energy for the long days we do at DL!

I find it easiest to just park the stroller in our hotel room, and leave everything on it that we take to the park. I even put the water bottles in it, repack the diaper bag and food bag, the night before. Then when we wake up we have the stroller and bags all ready to go for a day in the park!

If you wanted to leave your stroller in the car overnight and not store it in the hotel room, you could ask for a second floor room at PVI. It may be quieter, as the first floor rooms are RIGHT on the parking lot with walkways in front of the rooms. But that's nice too- if you can find a parking space close to your room, you can easily pack/unpack your car. You can also get to the pool easier from the first floor.

PVI looks awesome! We are staying there in August and also in January! Their Jan rates for the 2 br suites were great- about $130/night! We are paying $156 in August mid-week.
