Hi we are planning an upcoming trip...which is better for a family with 2 small kids? Can you tell me the pros and cons of each and which one you prefer. Thanks so much

IMHO BCV is a kid friendly resort. BWV seems to have more adults and less food to choose from. Stormalong Bay at BC is the best pool on WDW property.

Can you walk to the boardwalk from the Beach Club? Which is closer to Epcot and HS? Whose rooms are more updated?

You can walk or take a boat to BWV, the Boardwalk, Epcot and DHS. BWV is currently going through a referb that is scheduled to be completed by March.

Thank you for the info...it's a tough decision - I know my husband would like to be close to the boardwalk and the referbed rooms sound great, but I know the pool is better at Beach Club...hmmmm??????:confused3

With 2 small kids the BWV pool may actually be better. Less spread out and really nice for small kids. SAB can be hectic. Teenagers, I'd say SAB hands down. Not so with little ones.

We just stayed at the BWV and I loved it, the pool was really fun, they had some food options there, and they had some other food options for kids like the corn dog shack, Boardwalk Bakery, and the Pizza place. We will never be allowed to stay there again however, because my Disney Spouse can't resist the Fudge at the Candy Store that is only a few hundred feet outside the DVC wing!

It's been years since I stayed at the BC, in fact they were building the villas the last time I stayed. I think there is plenty for kids at the BWV, plus there are also those surrey bikes for the family to rent.

Depending on the kids ages BCV can be a challenge at the pool. We were there with our 9 and 7 year old girls. They are both strong swimmers but I still had to follow them around, between crossing the path to get to the slide to watching them in the pool with the currents. Our littlest one stay with Mom at the sandy area. We mainly stay at the BWV though, the kids love the pool and the location. Pool is more compacted and its much easier on the parents to watch the kids. On top of that the boardwalk area at night is very fun with the little shows on the boardwalk itself. Location wise...BWV is closer to DHS and BCV is closer to Epcot. Both are a short boat trip away.

I think the water sprinkling animals at the BWV and the play area at the main pool make BWV a better choice for swimming with young children.

Staying at Beach Club for the first time this Christmas!!! According to Accuweather.. our first day there will be almost 80 degrees.. SAB pool here we come!!!! The boys are going to LOVE IT!!!!!

We love BCV and SAB along with the close proximity to Epcot. We also like the relax and down time of taking the boat to DHS.

The pool is huge but we feel that a parent needs to be in the pool at arms length of child at all times. Our son 6 is a good swimmer but we are next to him in SAB. Accidents can happen in any pool in a moment.

My husband and I stay at BCV all of the time and love it but I did not enjoy SAB with a young swimmer. Although he's a decent, it was pretty hard to keep up with him at SAB. So for our next trip, we switched to AKL at the 7 month mark just to not have SAB for the young swimmer going with us.

For a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old, I'd stick with BWV because of the pool. SAB is a pool where you really have to keep an eye on the little ones because there are some very deep depths - 8 feet or deeper - along with a rather swift current.

Respectfully, I disagree. The sand-play area at SAB is ideal for children of that age. It does not connect to any of the deeper areas or swift current pools and can provide great opportunities for fun.

The quiet pools @ BCV provide the same type of atmosphere as the main pool at BWV less the freaky clown face slide.....

We love them both, and, honestly, I think you'll be very happy with either.

BCV has, as everyone mentions anytime the resort comes up, Stormalong Bay. The sand play pool area is absolutely great for little kids. DS (age 4) loves that area and will play there for hours and hours. We did not allow him into the lazy river area for very long; he could only go in it while holding on to me.

BCV is also a shorter walk to Epcot.

BWV has a pool that would be much better for little kids if it was zero entry. If there was a single part of the main pool where DS could stand up, we didn't find it. I kept thinking they had to have a shallow end, but if they do, it wasn't obvious to me. He did like the elephants all around that squirt water.

BWV has a much short walk to DHS. (I wouldn't walk to DHS from BCV.) DS also really loves the boardwalk entertainers in the evening. He thinks the BW is a great hotel; he likes the carousel in the lobby, too. (His favorite is AKV, however.)

I agree with those areas for small children. BUT, you do have to keep an eye on them otherwise they might wind up in trouble in those more dangerous areas for small children or non-swimmers.
