Help, Plans For Day 1

OK Im am totally stuck on what to do on the 1st day we arrive. We are gonna be staying at the AKL. Now we never actually ever spend some time at our resorts and I know that the AKL is one resort that needs to be checked out but me and my hubby were also thinking about doing DTD when we get there. Everything was a go when I thought disney quest was still gonna be there. We were gonna go to DTD, do disney quest, checked out DTD some (never been there before), go back to the hotel, eat at Bomas and then head over to epcot for Illuminations. Now that disney quest is closing, the only thing we would actually do in DTD is look around and thats it. Not sure if its worth getting on a bus, going all the way down to DTD for maybe 2 hrs to just look around and then head back in time for dinner. So heres my choices:

1. Go to DTD until about 4, Eat dinner at Bomas, check out the resort a little until 7:30, then head to Epcot.

2. Go to DTD until about 4, Eat dinner at Bomas, head to Epcot as soon as we're done with dinner.

3. Stay at the hotel, NOT go to DTD, Eat dinner at Bomas, head to Epcot as soon as we're done with dinner.

So which choice should I pick?

Option #1 sounds good to me. In this option you stated that you would look around AKL then head off to Epcot. I like this idea because it seems more relaxing than running right to Epcot after dinner. There are also alot of things to see in DTD and PI is right next door. Sounds like it would be a nice first day! Enjoy!

Disney Quest is closing? I haven't planned to go there yet. But I always thought it would be nice to take the kids when they were older. Oh well....
