We are taking our daughter to disney for the first time, Dec.29 and staying until after the new year.

Can anyone give me some good planning tips for the parks and the dinning?

Thanks:cool1:

I think we need to know how old she is to give you any really good answers or at least an age range. Thanks. :)

the parks will be busy that week, get up early, get to the parks early, expect waits to be around 120 mins. for everything (including the bathroom) by about noon.

Hi :welcome:

Will you be staying at a Disney Resort? If so, are you doing the Dining Plan or interested in it?

How old is your daughter? She would probably enjoy a character meal.

You can read menus at the allears site.

she will almost be 2

The week between Christmas and New Year's is the busiest week of the year.

You didn't mention where you plan to stay, but I strongly recommend staying at a Disney Resort.

Along with other perks, Disney Resort guest are guaranteed admission to the parks, even when they reach capacity.

This will also allow you to return to the resort with ease, for an afternoon break/nap.

You can make dining reservations 180 days from your arrival date. If you want to dine in any of the Table Service (TS) restaurants, including character meals, you will need to make Advance Dining Reservations (ADR) or may not get in.

Your daughter will be 2, what a great age. Consider Cinderella's Table for breakfast or the character breakfast at 1900 Park Faire at the GF. Definately try to stay on-site and plan to return to your room for some R&R mid-day so your little one can nap and you can put your feet up. :thumbsup2 Have a wonderful trip.pixiedust:

I would suggest since your daughter will be 2 breakfast at Crystal Palace in MK as the characters there are Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger...at that age I think she would relate better with Pooh and friends then Cinderalla....but it is your option and only you know what your daughter will like...

Looks like we have made a change in our plans. Based on a number of people the last week of the year. Is not the time to go. We are asking our travel agent to change our trip dates to Jan. 14-19, 2009. However, Disney want let anyone book past Dec. 31 unless its included in the week you will be there. So we have to wait until they release Jan. dates for booking.

This has to be a much slower time????

Thanks
Leslie

the first week of jan is still busy, but by the second week, you will have most attractions to yourself. some folks reported it being kinda crowded all of Jan this year... but compared to the holidays, it is not nearly crowded.

Hi,

January 19 is Martin Luther King day, so that weekend might be crowded, but as for crowd levels, anytime is better than Xmas week. I think you will be glad you switched.

You can book a "room only" reservation, but for a package, you will need to wait until the package rates are released.

Does anyone know when the 2009 package rates will be released...I am saving for our April 2009 and would like to know approximately how much the packages will be...at this point I am going by the amount we paid for the package and spending money for our last trip....
