Hi everyone,

My girlfriend and I will be heading to Disney world this July just in time for the fourth of July. I plan to propose to her on the night of the 4th and am looking for advice on a romantic place/suggestion to pop the question.

I have spoken to this Disney Dream Makers and they have suggested some great ideas, but just not exactly what I am looking for. I would prefer it to be somewhat private and have a view of the fireworks at Cinderella's Castle.

If anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated!!!!

4th of July is one of the most busiest times of the year. If you plan on being in MK then you really will not have that much privacy. There are some hotels that you can watch the fireworks from and you can propose then but you would not be right in MK.

I think (and have seen this) if you ask a CM to take your picture and then propose while he is taking your picture would be a great way. Then you have the expression on film (just let him know when you go up that is your plan).

I agree—it is going to be wall-to-wall bodies at the MK on 4th of July. About the most private place I can think of, which is still not super private, but at least you have space around you, would be Cinderella's Royal Table. If you can get a seat by the windows, you can see the fireworks from inside the castle, and it's pretty spectacular. You can contact their special events line and set up extras like a tiara or a glass slipper with the ring in it: (407) 824-4477 or e-mail wdwcrtspecialevents@email.disney.com.

Oh how exciting! I just posted today bc my boyfriend proposed to me last week there. It was private with a view of the fireworks so it could work for you too!

He surprised me with 930 reservations at the california grill at the top of the contemporary resort. We went up and has a drink and then went out on the observation deck around 10 for the fireworks. There was a good amount of people so my boyfriend told me he was gonna check the stairs down to the next floor to see if there were less people. When he went down there was one other couple and he asked if they would take our picture down there while he propose and they agreed. He came up and told me to come down. During the fireworks he asked for a picture ad that's when he popped the question!

We got great pictures, a great view, and it was very private. He had told the restaurant beforehand so they brought us complimentary champagne and dessert menus that were personalized. It was wonderful!

He told me afterwards he was thinking of proposing at the beach of the Polynesian which could also be great.

Wow, that's such a great idea scottashackleton. And thanks everyone else for their suggestions.

After making tons of phone calls, here's what I have so far...

Spend the day (July 4th) at Magic Kingdom. Head back to the room around 4:00 to cool off and get ready for dinner. In our room will be balloons with an invitation as special guests to be invited on a private firework viewing boat ride. Dinner at Citricos at 6:25. Then be at the Grand Floridian Marina by 8:00 for a private pontoon ride for just the two of us (+ driver). Boat leaves dock at 8:30 and there will be champagne on the boat. Fireworks start at 9:00 and propose during them. Disney florist will cover our room in rose pedals for our return.

One thing I would like to alter is the dinner plans. I really would have liked to have had dinner at California Grill, but Citricos was the only restaurant available for the time necessary. Anyone have any tips on getting a reservation there?

I think your ideas sound wonderful and very romantic!! While I love California Grill, Citricos is also excellent and will be more convenient to make sure you are on time for your pontoon ride....

Maybe you could plan California Grill for another night? The MK views are wonderful, but if you're going on the boat for the fireworks, you won't be taking advantage of fireworks viewing at CG--which is DEFINITELY part of what you are paying for when you eat there; it's pretty pricey. Just my opinion!

Good luck...whatever you end up doing, I'm sure she will be thrilled!!

Brooke
